Completely irrelevant but back in October someone I speak to about music occasionally said "Your going to Glastonbury next year, Oasis are headlining I guarantee it"

Its been in the back of my head since that Oasis could play this year, there are a lot of reasons for doing it and Id prefer it to Metallica (purely because Ive seen metallica live before) but it just doest fit right in my opinion.

Would grab the headlines thats for sure.

They were karaoke last time. I won't bother seeing them. In a way it will be a good thing as it will give me chance to go and explore without rushing back to see the headline act. Are they still popular? They wouldn't be on my radar at all these days.

Fer Christ's sake, to assume this is anything to do with Glastonbury is idiocy, it's clearly just Liam being a nob. We know Metallica are the Saturday headliner, Oasis aren't playing.

Ive been to many oasis gigs and I agree you do get a lot of “tools” going to their gigs. But on the other side of the coin there are genuine decent fans who go to the gigs and enjoy the music and atmosphere. I honestly believe that the majority of oasis fans who would attend Glastonbury would be the more genuine music/oasis fan and not the ones who mainly go to cause bother. I wasn’t at the 2004 festival so I could be wrong in that assumption?

Could it be, that Michael and Emily have had enough of Prince's games, have been told of the (highly unlikely) Oasis reunion, and have begun discussing with them? It would allow Metallica to headline the Other, as originally planned and remove the possibility of Soni legal action.

Very unlikely, but as mentioned, they have suggested they'd like Oasis back recently. Emily also mentioned negotiations with 2/3 bands..

I'd describe myself as an Oasis fan - I've seen them live probably half a dozen times and, whatever you might think of them and their fans, they have a fairly impressive back catalogue.

They were disappointing back in 2004 - for whatever reason the set didn't quite land.

I remember thinking after Blur's set in 2009 and the general outpouring of love for them, that Noel Gallagher would realise that if Oasis were ever going to be adored again they needed to go away for a while. I've always assumed that's what they're doing and that they'll be back one day.

I don't think this year's Glasto is that day.

I'd assume that when they come back with as close to the original line-up as possible they'll do a series of stadium shows and properly cash in (remember the "There's a million good reasons for us to play Reading festival and they've all got the queen's head on" quote)

I absolutely think they'll play Glastonbury again one day and, as with last time, I don't think it will have any discernible difference to the make-up of the festival or its attendees.
