There was an interesting plot line in yesterday's Archers.

One of the characters, looking at a long range weather forecast for a 'festival'. Promptly she was reminded that Long range forecasts are not to be trusted.

Couldn't help but be reminded of this thread!

There's no ill feeling, just a reason there are two threads - the silly massively interrupts all other discussion if every post about the weather models is followed by a page of silly. That's all - look at the size of this current tangent alone

I am unable to choose a daily newspaper to read for this very same reason.

Get it up ya!

The Met Office's 30-day forecast predicts that after today, the weather is expected to settle down with many areas having some warm sunshine, although there are still likely to be showers in the north west.

For the Independent, that's shite journalism. Well, not shite journalim. Shite English.

There is a 100% chance it may be the warmest summer ever.

There is a 100% chance it could be the coldest summer ever.

What they say ("there is a 25% chance it may", "there is a 10% chance it could") means nothing at all.

I spoke to the NFR lot last night, a thoroughly nice bunch they are too. (Even after I started a mud thread) They are enjoying themselves in their quest to have a lack of rain. More power to them.

I like reading the graphs too. I cant quite grasp such the ill feeling towards them. Both groups want a lack of rain..

I enjoy them, just don't understand 'em.

they're fine really.

"Sounds like the Met Office is hedging it's bets again...."It may be warm but it may also be wet. We don't know" is what they're basically saying"

That's not at all what they're saying, although that Indie article is terrible.

The actual report from the met office is saying that they predict above average temperatures and below average rainfall (averaged out over the 3 month period) as with any scientific prediction they include a 'margin of error' within their reporting, I think what the Indie are, very badly, trying to point out is that for the temperature predictions the lowest point in the margin of error is lower than the historical average.

Reading the long range forecast directly from the met office website it's completey different to what The Independent has reported.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 25 Jun 2014 to Wednesday 9 Jul 2014:

Through the latter part of June and into early July, there are indications that conditions may turn a little more unsettled, particularly across northwestern parts of the UK, with the best of the drier and brighter conditions towards the south and east. Temperatures are likely to be around average for eastern areas, and given the time of year, feeling warm in the sunshine, however temperatures may be a little below average in more unsettled northwestern areas.

    • Not my favourite year either, despite liking the lineup more than previous years. Not sure what it was, I guess Thursday really put the brakes on things. But yeah I'll be back next year hopefully. And maybe Massive Attack will return...
    • E-mail summarizing Saturday - Primavera Sound 2026 Journal Day 3. As in previous days, it's going to be on the website soon, I think.
    • I was surprised as well. I met more than 20 different people on both Friday and Saturday that had come in reusing QR codes.
    • Where was this announced, if i may ask?   I really lucked out with a great spot for Ninajirachi up front with ample dancing space. What a crazyass vibe.   Overall it wasn't my favorite edition but the Friday and Saturday experiences justify a return trip next year.
