Same here,I have seen forecasts predict rain all day but have gone into work anyway only for there to be not a drop all day and still very overcast.

It aint raining til its raining.

I was once filming an airshow at a USAF base in Suffolk and it was Biblically lashing it down, their local Met people swore blind that it wasn't raining!

and summing up your thread

"It might be dry or it might rain. Basically we're going to pretend it'll be dry."

TOTALLY missed the point.

'S'ok though...i'm just saying.

It's still gonna be an AMAZING GF! :)

Last I checked it was either pics of hippos or people just saying what the weather was doing where they lived, months before the festival. I think the joke was funny for about two minutes.

It's not for everyone, sure...but that's ok. Some people have different outlooks and a different sense of humour.

I hope everyone has an AMAZING GF though. :)

That's probably because of the amount of drivel being posted on there, some of its funny but clicking onto it only to see ''bump'' on every other post has got a bit tedious.

Quality not quantity. :)

You don't have to click there!!! :)

The same could be said for a thread about cast iron scientific predictions littered with:

'I've spent 20 years filming events outside and the one thing that my experience has shown me is that the long range weather forecast is almost always inaccurate, although the same thing can usually be said about the short range forecast too.'

Quality?

:)

It's not about cast iron predictions! That would *not* be scientific!!

Oh look, you made me use multiple exclamation points. Naughty step for you! :P

It most definitely was muddy last year. Was going to head to the Park Thursday night but couldn't be arsed to stomp through the mud. It dried up towards the end of Friday.

There's a difference between some areas being a bit muddy for one night and being able to describe it overall as muddy. I know that's splitting hairs but last year was most definitely not 'muddy' ;)

for all their positivity, the NFR NFC lot don't half get grumpy when they come over 'ere.

But check this out from J10 tonight... "Maybe at last we can detect a pattern, the next few weeks in the run up to Glastonbury now look as if they will be mostly settled and dry, according to upper charts and ensemble forecasts."

BOOM yeah come on bitches!!

admittedly the summary was a little less committal....

"A bit better than yesterday, but there remains a large amount of uncertainty, but it does look as if the weeks running up to Glastonbury itself will be drier than last, year, as for the festival itself that is a long way off."

There was an interesting plot line in yesterday's Archers.

One of the characters, looking at a long range weather forecast for a 'festival'. Promptly she was reminded that Long range forecasts are not to be trusted.

Couldn't help but be reminded of this thread!

I spoke to the NFR lot last night, a thoroughly nice bunch they are too. (Even after I started a mud thread) They are enjoying themselves in their quest to have a lack of rain. More power to them.

I like reading the graphs too. I cant quite grasp such the ill feeling towards them. Both groups want a lack of rain..

I'm with you. I like both threads. :)

There's no ill feeling, just a reason there are two threads - the silly massively interrupts all other discussion if every post about the weather models is followed by a page of silly. That's all - look at the size of this current tangent alone

    • Lovely stuff to look back through on a rainy day, which in turn prompted me to look through my own. Some from 2024......
    • you can just feel the heat oozing out of this photo😊
