which is at odds with the weather outlooks current 16 day forecast which has an effective heatwave right before the festival which ends on the Thursday :(

It's almost as if long range forecasts are all just guess work!;)

hehe though now we're in the two week window that become "Mid-range", though still largely nonsense..

This is the last week I think we can dismiss it as pure made up nonsense- this time next week, when the forecasts start to become more reliable, this weather thread becomes tense stuff!

... Chris Waddle.

And while we're on the subject, Accuweather's looking v good!

http://www.accuweather.com/en/gb/bristol/bs1-6/june-weather/327328

It's not looking as good as it was this time yesterday.

This thread has turned me into a nervous wreck, think I'll just stick to praying to the god's of the sun.

Just to give you an idea of what rainfall amounts actually are in practical terms:

-last year the rain that fell on the Thursday/Friday, was estimated to be a total of 10mm.

-I think in the infamous storm of 2005, it was over 100mm of rain in 4 hours!

In this time frame in 2011, the weather forecasts were looking very dire:

http://forum.netweather.tv/topic/69427-glastonbury-2011/page-5

with J10's forecast on the 13th June (one week before gates opened):

The Jet Stream is also showing slight signs of edging/pushing north from around Wednesday Thursday next week. As for a washout dry akin to yesterday, the most likely time for that will be this weekend, and even then I don't think it will be as wet as yesterday. Going on current trends especially the ensembles, apart some possible moderate rain on Wednesday, it may well stay mostly dry for the rest of the festival.

Any idea how much fell in 2007?

A shed load!

I was looking through friends photos on FB the other day of 2007... It was their first year and they all look cold and miserable..... Needless to say they did return...

So glad I missed that year...

I remember that much! Made my wife not return until we can afford a campervan. She also went in 97+98. You'll be glad to hear we don't have that campervan yet.

The only stat I do know was that in 2005 the average rainfall for the whole of June fell in one morning! And then it stopped and we had a right laugh.

Nope- unfortunately JackONE's blogs for that year have been deleted. All I know is that the weather forecast looked like it was going to be a stinker, pretty early on, and yet somehow it got even worse! (don't think the Sunday night final-kick-in-the-teeth deluge was predicted initially!)

Yeah, that's how I remember it.

A week on sunday is THE update. The countryfile one.

That has been discredited in years gone by- they once got it bang on many years ago, but they have been hit or miss for as long as I can remember!

This week they said we was getting showers, so far we had a down pour on Monday afternoon and it's been sunny since!
