not too bad, just have to wear a plastic poncho and jig about

Well said autoinflate.

16 degrees is not cold and if anyone thinks it is then try camping out in -4 or picking an enjoyment that doesnt involve anything outdoors.

A hot cider, a fun outlook, a bit of dancing and a hug from a stranger will fend off all of this 'cold' talk.

Very true - 2011 putting the tent up in the rain was bobbins. Then it rained and rained with one lovely nice day on Sunday. I'm hoping Sat Sun might be sunny spells at least inbetween showers

Yep. It doesn't really bother me if it rains on the Weds and Thurs. Last year's rain on the Thursday was ridiculous though.. I remember that long walk up to the Park at about 8/9pm and it took 3x as longer because of the mud. Also the mud on the hill after the bridge between JP and Sonic gets horrific after a few hours of downpour. The only thing I'm a bit concerned about this year is the timing of the heavy showers starting is when all of the music starts, plus we won't have weather like last year after the heavy showers so the ground won't have time to dry. But whatever, it's Glastonbury! It'll be amazing anyway.

Been out this afternoon to buy wellies and waterproof clothing, I really hope its not going tobe as bad as I keep reading.

This is the problem not enough people bought waterproofs and wellies in preparation!

It's just about mindset and preparation - have the kit ready, don't get wet in the first place At All and you stay dry and warm - plan visits to places with seating in - pre roll a few - keep firewood in your tent - it's not so hard to just let it fall and get on with life

I need to get in a field and stop reading this thread, because I have that sinking feeling, which I really shouldn't have.

Same, the sooner Wednesday comes around (particularly if its dry...) the better, because once we're there we'll realise that we'll still have a great time regardless!

Most forecasts are still suggesting showers, why all the crying?

I think it's because it showed positive change this morning and it didn't swing as drastically as some people hoped. The rainfall doesn't seem bad at all, it's still showers... it's just the chance of showers is all day... the CHANCE of showers. As I say the is currently a 40% of every forecasted shower on Friday not happening according to the MetOffice. The rating is still a 6, which people were okay with yesterday and the mm of rainfall isn't much different from yesterday. The way I see it is we went from only having a dry Wednesday to having a dry Wednesday and Thursday (pretty much guaranteed by this point) which is an improvement. NOT TO MENTION the forecasts say things can still change.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday were always forecasted rain.... Thursday was as well.. but guess what, thats not really the case anymore :D

The way I see it - most sites are starting to correlate in their forecasting, which means unless something drastic happens, we're looking at guaranteed rain on FRIDAY and no other day. We're looking at two days of dry weather beforehand and sun on saturday and sunday by the looks of things.

And even though it's raining on Friday, we're generally predicted WAY less rainfall than any of the 'disaster' years, 2011, and even last year. Which wasn't all that wet/muddy.

I'm optimistic.

Very true, even by normal standards Friday and the weekend is 'out of accurate forecasting range', but when you take into account all the increased uncertainty around this year...

This weather lark messes with your head. Think I'm gonna prepare for the worst and if it improves, great :)

Can't say I'm too bothered by rain as long as my tent doesn't leak. Someone needs to post the gif of the kid who is experiencing rain for the first time, since I saw that rain has really not bothered me in the slightest.

Don't mind being rained on, it's easy to get used to... adjusting to rain isn't the hard part... it's only a problem if it affects the ground in a major way... then it goes from a minor annoyance to a hindrance.

But as I said before don't see the ground being anywhere NEAR as bad as 2011, not even close, I think it'd need way more rain than 2011 to achieve that and I don't think we'll get close to the same amount of rain that we got in 2011. Lets be grateful that we will be able to sit anywhere on site Wednedsday and Thursday :D

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
