Metallica 2014

For Metallica though? What sort of person doesn't know who they are enough to buy a ticket for a festival off the back of seeing them on Television at Glastonbury!

It's less 'who's that? I might buy a ticket to their gig' and more 'that looks great. I might buy a ticket to their gig'.

Sorry to backtrack but how the hell did The View ever become exclusive to any festival!

I hope Metallica play The View.

I don't agree. People come to Glastonbury - Metallica just happen to be there and should play to the audience- which isn't their usual crowd.

so every band that plays that isn't your 'usual Glastonbury band' should change their show and cater to the audience? bollocks. Metallica have been doing this for 33 years, and are very good at what they do. i get that it's a massive deal to finally have a metal band in a prominent slot / headlining, but why ruin that by watering it down?

if Metallica play, you better believe they're gonna play Creeping Death, and that they'll have the audience chanting 'die, die, die, die', and they definitely won't be covering Mr Brightside, and even if they did throw in a few covers, eventually they're gonna have to play a heavy as fuck song

Maybe a few Prince songs thrown in? I was disappointed that the Stones didn't do more Chemical Brothers numbers to play to the crowd a bit.

His voice here is incredible

As far as I'm concerned he's a very talented vocalist. S&M shows it all the way through. My fave vocal performances have to be Devil's Dance and Outlaw Torn. I normally sort of discount live and greatest hits but that album is easily their best. Would love to see them do it live but they put on a great performance regardless.

I would love it but Metallica at Glastonbury is kind of wierd on it's own but Metallica with an orchestra?

It would give that twist that everyone keeps going on about. Like when they did the Valkyries thing

I hate metallica. Seen them twice and thought they were shit but I really want them to headline as it will hopefully open up the possibility for 'heavier bands', or bands Eavis considers heavier, to headline the pyramid. Once metallica have done it PJ, Foos, QOTSA etc should meet no opposition on the too heavy front.

Only thing about metallica at glasto, they normally play for AGES, nearly 3 hours the first time I saw them at a festival, but I think a pyramid set would work best, in terms of it being seen as success, at an hour and a half or so.

Are Metallica difficult to work with? I know Lars is a bit of a cock but do they generally kick up a lot of fuss with regards to how long they're getting and things like that?

This is the thing they normally like to dictate their own stuff, have ramp ways and stuff at festivals that have never had them before etc; but they've been hammering on about wanting to play Glasto' for a long time now so I think they would jump at any oppitunity they got. Which is why I think that the 'other stage headliner' rumor started.

Off topic but it got me listening to dream theaters live album with the orchestra, more metal bands should do it!

Download The Twilight Sad live at Paisley Abbey with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra for £0.00, if you haven't already; http://www.thetwilightsad.com/. It's outstanding.

EDIT: Just noticed you specified metal there, download it anyway.
