Just booked a ticket for the Sunday at Sonisphere, so probably seeing Metallica twice in eight days.

If this happened, it'd be interesting to see how the reaction compared to that which greeted Glastonbury's last niche Saturday night headliner announcement. No doubt Metallica are an incredible live prospect if you like that sort of thing, but an act with the sort of wide-appeal that the last eight Pyramid headliners have had? They are most certainly not.

yeah i'm quite looking forward to seeing Twitter go into a frenzy over it. i'm sure there will be a lot of 'omg if i wonted 2 c metallica id go to download' etc, especially as i'm sure an awful lot of people are still expecting Prince / Fleetwood Mac

gave a hint earlier in the thread that he thinks they'll be the Pyramid headliner rather than Other, but who knows

The suggestion that's come to me today is that they'll be on the Pyramid.

I'm hoping that I might find out something more before changing the rumours page, else I might be having to change it back tomorrow.

I've been left wondering what the crowd will be like, not size but energy. I think it will be high energy at least to the crush barrier but past that? I'm not sure how the camp chair families will react

It's the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury. The energy is gonna be shit.

i think they will go down quite well nothing spectacular but solid as always , they are not slipknot heavy or even that screamy

i dig metallica and have seen them thrice but they are in offensive metal but very talented .

Not into them at all, know 2 songs maybe 3 but will go and see what they are like, going to Leeds Festival and would have thought I would see them there if I had to at some time but certainly a change for G, if its not for me I'm sure there will be a back up else where.

I'm a big metal fan - I'll be going to Soni the week after Glastonbury - but I'm very meh about Metallica. The best thing they've ever done was Bill Bailey honking Enter Sandman, and they didn't even do it!

I Might give it a couple of songs, just cos it'll be quite the spectacle - but I envisage lots of confused looking seat dwellers down the back of the pyramid field . . .

So nothing set in stone for headlining Pyramid yet? Are we still working on the assumption that they are the only big act rumoured for the Saturday, hence potential headliners or have we heard something else?

Think they would be a great addition but would prefer them on the Other just to keep my options open.
