Metallica 2014

whoever subs Metallica, i imagine there will be a massive crowd switch between them finishing and Metallica starting. just can't think of any Glastonbury-esque band big enough to sub / suitable to sub Metallica

Pet Shop Boys looking likely. Which is hilarious, but awesome at the same time :P Huge crowd switch I imagine.

Pleased the fest is looking to introduce another genre, although I don't think Metallica will be my personal first choice.

i suppose if Metallica are getting drafted in as a 'last ditch' sort of headliner, whoever was previously subbing Prince will still be in place, so Pet Shop Boys it may well be which is jokes

if Glasto were gonna have a 'metal' band headliner, it was always going to be Metallica. they're THE metal band, and are really eager to do it. reckon it'll be one hell of a show. just hope whoever's up against them on Other is awful

In fairness to them, there have been many articles about them desperately wanting to do it, so I can't see them pissing the opportunity up the wall.

Could possibly clash with Disclosure if they headline the Other?

Just because you fancy seeing Metallica doesn't mean you'd avoid Pet Shop Boys

And Vice Versa

If there is one one about Glasto goers it is that they have wide musical tastes - and know they can find allsorts at Glasto

If it was Metallica (whom I've wanted to see for years) subbed by PSB I'm going to be in that inner Pyramid stage area from late afternoon on!!!!!!!!!!

Bring it on.

considering it's looking like Skrillex is headlining one day with the Other (could well be the Saturday) i doubt they'll also have Disclosure headlining. reckon Disclosure will be a Other sub

Oh yeah I forgot about Skrillex, my bad.

Not the only one... I will definately be making my way to the inner pyramid area!

Completely. If Metallica are the only metal act on the line up, it's unlikely that the preceding acts will be met with confused silence by a field of metalheads. Could end up being PSB, could be someone like Pharrell or Nutini or Example. :P

I'm sitting here imaging that Happy tune by Pharell right now then imaging the fields faces as Metallica take to the stage to Master of Puppets. Interesting stuff indeed.

interesting that Pet Shop Boys are quite low (well, below the likes of Foals) on the Electric Picnic lineup, so arguably might not be a big enough act to sub at Glastonbury (also interesting is that Neil has now mentioned in the Glam thread that they could well be the 'Glam' West Holts headliner for the night)

 As the metalheads desend into the crowd late having tried to avoid Pharell starting a Moshpit.

Barring a clash with Franz Ferdinand or someone I love I'll be there (Likely not for PSB :P)

    • Oh yeah I'd forgotten about their mad scramble to get back from LA to Glastonbury. Though at least there you can blame multiple flight cancellations. I do agree though that it's fair to ask why you'd risk a similar sh*t show.
    • So who's got a good rain dance in the locker, then? Now we're in August the weather watchers can come out of hiding.    Already having flashbacks to last year (the dust cloud of doom at the crossroads by the Courtyard entrance).   Also got to be looking sketchy for the fire/fireworks on the Sunday. Might be a controversial opinion but wouldn't mind it - the fencing annoyance isn't worth the 10 mins of 'oooohhh, aaahhhh', plus the raining of hot embers last year!
