The supposed hatred that 'Load' gets is beyond me - it's a great album. I think it's just a case of the thrash fans disliking it because it doesn't sound like a "metal" album and was a pretty good way in to the band for people in the mid 90s who weren't part of their oh so precious metal community. I'd say if you're unsure on Metallica as a whole you should listen to this and Black first, then move on to Puppets and Lighting because, if you don't like how heavy Load and Black are, you'll really hate the rest. As good as the songs might be, I can't listen to Justice because of its tinniness - don't, whatever you do, start there!

As far as dream setlists go I'd go for:

Might be worth mentioning: a user in the R+L section said that they'd spoken to some of the Sonisphere people at a promotional event thing and apparently they said that Metallica were "still exclusive as far as [they] know". Could have been blagging but I don't see much reason to do that, and I'm not really convinced they'll play now.

EDIT: just realised the user has already pointed it out in this thread. My bad, but still.

nothing's changed. Neil just said that the info he received may have been duff (as the same info also suggested Prince was headlining). somebody spoke to some of Soni's team not long ago and asked about them being exclusive and they confirmed that they were still exclusives, so it made them seem less likely for Glastonbury… but i guess we'll just have to wait and see, as obviously it could just be the 'Metallica By Request' thing that's the exclusive, not Metallica themselves
