They introduced the compost loos near the cider bus. They're fantastic, but there's not enough of them. Massive containers full of sawdust outside with papercups, when you've finished your business, you chuck the sawdust over the top. Less smell, and kept cleaner than most

The shangri la theme was heaven and hell last year. As you imaging hell was black and heaven fluffy white. You queued up and had to convince the doormen that you were good enough to get in to heaven. Needless to say but I ended up watching a reggae band in hell. It's getting busier after hours there, despite the split with Arcadia and improved access.

Orange chill n charge are now toned down charging tents but more than one. More campsite changes. Avalon stage and cafe right next to each other with terrible sound bleeding issues.

Couple of aesthetic changes above the park.

it doesn't really change, does it. I mean not readically, the core is still there. There are some changes every year, but they're prety superficial, mostly.

I had a big break, between 95 and 07, and my first thought on returning wasn't how different it was, but how it was still essentially the same, with a few differences round the edge. But it was instantly recogniseable as the same place I'd left 12 years before

One of the things I love is that we only spend 5 days a year there, which is fuck all, really, but every year when we return, we find it really easy to both get our bearings and return to familiar habits (yeah, I'll meet you by that stall that flogs wax candle boats) while at the same time noticing the minutest of changes (Hold on, that Milk stall that was there has moved 20 metres along the row)

2010 was a vintage year, so the subsequent ones have had slightly too much to live up to in some regards IMO.

Positives - the dance area has realised that it is miles behind the rest of the festival in terms of energy and creativity and has made a massive effort to amend this - not a roaring success by any means, but a definite step in the right direction. There is good food scattered around the site now (not literally!) - as others have said particularly delicious (and nutritious) munchies in the Greenpeace area. General festival good vibe is very much alive and well. The Common with an Aztec / Latin tilt is a riot of laffs and big beats.

Negatives - Southeast corner (with the exception of The Common) is heaving under the weight of its own success. It's now really hard IMO to have a great time there because of the queues, crowds, and touristic nature of the clientele. Arcadia has moved out - and lost its appeal to me, being used as a diversion to ease crowd flow. Block 9 has moved to a more prominent location, making London Underground a major roadblock. Unfairground has turned into a bit of a predictable tourist parade IMO. But - there's plenty of late night fun to be had elsewhere (particularly Green Futures).
