hate to point it out but that's reading and there's noone moshing and jumping around. this is abnormal

i was about to come on here and admit that i was wrong, they did go announce them first - but it seems it was an odd leak sideways. I wonder who's pissed off, someone must be!

Does mean that Eavis was talking nonsense about the 3 headliners being Glasto virgins, unless AF have replaced someone who was originally going to headline but has since pulled out

I think it was the normal Eavis exuberance ;) I think that whatever he says is open, honest and truthful in that moment, said with real belief, it just doesn't always end up being how things pan out.

AF are just about the perfect pyramid headliner for me. I predict something really special (if the weather holds).

Eavis says something about the headliners which later things confirm he was talking bollocks?

Nah, it'll never happen.

Arcade Fire was by far the most solid info we'd had here in recent months for headliners - hence them having been 'strong rumour' for the Friday for quite a while.

We also got other names at the same time and from the same source - tho there was less certainty in the info we got about those.

And those names are...

Saturday - Led Zep

Sunday - Prince.

Personally I don't believe either of those, but it wouldn't be the first time that I've put little faith in what turned out to be true info.

Robert Plant is doing a solo tour in June isn't he? I'll go ahead and take my pinch of salt now.

I've not been following things to know, tho we did make some efforts to check out the LZ thing, and while we got nothing back to suggest it might be true we also didn't get anything back that suggested that it couldn't happen.

Prince! is the prince rumour stronger than usual this year then? my understanding is that someone or other always says he is playing around this time of year

nope, I don't think there's anything extra to it - tho perhaps it's possible for the stones performing this year to have changed the purple one's opinions on things.

I think the Prince thing mostly crops up because those of 'power' within music media are of an age where they'd have been massive Prince fans - so they desperately want it to be true.

I personally think that the want of Prince by the public at large is HUGELY over-stated, as a result of the above.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
    • In a 6,800-word Substack essay, external, the Clacton MP said "anti-white racism was embedded into the state", and that legislation aimed at equality was a form of "social cleansing"   .https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cdjkd4mp93zo   The privileged white c**t hasn’t got a clue what racism is.
