nope, I don't think there's anything extra to it - tho perhaps it's possible for the stones performing this year to have changed the purple one's opinions on things.

I think the Prince thing mostly crops up because those of 'power' within music media are of an age where they'd have been massive Prince fans - so they desperately want it to be true.

I personally think that the want of Prince by the public at large is HUGELY over-stated, as a result of the above.

1) Didn't someone point out that Prince was now announcing shows and festivals with more than six weeks to go? Maybe some last year?

2) Surely they'd just use the 'Mumford card' with Elbow, and have them as stand-by.

Would prefer Led Zep to Prince, but both are a big draw definitely.

I couldn't name an Arcade Fire song or album, to be honest. Are they any good, or are they just one of those bands where all the critics say they're amazing because it's the cool thing to say, when they're actually not?

Surely merge these two threads, purely to kill the one started by the lazy bugger who didn't see there was a thread called Arcade Fire two or so posts below the top when they farted this one out. Putting the title in capitals and putting an exclamation mark at the end doesn't make it different...
