So she didn't want to do a festival run? I could have this wrong, but isn't she pretty much doing a European festival run?

Yep, so the one UK show is surely about the deal on offer - which is very unlikely to be low-paying Glasto.

Given that Flo is the act launching Bestival Canada, I can see they might have put together a deal to get her.

Canadian guy I know posted a Facebook status shortly after the announcement along the lines of "When I was living in the UK I thought Bestival looked like a festival for yuppies and posers, it looks like the Canadian one will be the same, Florence and the fucking Machine..."

Doesn't contribute to this discussion, but I thought it was funny.

Are people thinking the special guest on the Main Stage will be The Prodigy then, as they're not at V?

I guess we need a stronger sub, but Bastille into Alt-J into Mumford & Sons would make more sense. Mind you, Kendrick in between Jamie T and The Libertines is a bit of an odd one too.

Aren't Prodigy headlining Isle Of Wight?

Unless it's a deal like Faith No More in 2009, when they headlined Download and weren't (officially) announced for Reading until afterwards...

Superfood bassist told me and my mate in a bar that they're playing R+L most likely FR Stage I'd say

Great news excellent underrated band in my opinon, I think they're a victim to their era and would've sold very well in the 'indie years', low NME or FR stages would make most sense yeah.

we asked about Glasto and she said they had been out forward

Do you mind me asking what "out forward" means in the context???

Yes.

2009's booking isn't that much different to 2015 for that day if it happened, they need a stronger sub really than bloody BMTH and Kendrick Lamar and they present both crossover with the other days as what will be a hand full of rockier acts that fit along that genre. That Knife Party finishing NME that day looks like a shrewd move by the fest for Prodigy fans too.

That day in 2009 was very mixed. Indie acts like Arctic Monkeys, Maximo Park, Ian Brown and The Courteeners, but also other acts like The Prodigy, Enter Shikari and Eagles Of Death Metal.

The Prodigy would absolutely add strength to that day. If it turns out to be Alt-J it could be the WOAT day in the festival's history.

If it wasn't for "special guests" I would have completely shot you down on this. However, I have taken into consideration what you have posted.

I just don't think they'd take sub anymore unless there's some stupid money being thrown about.

Indeed it was. It would add loads of strength and it shouts straight out to defo the Metallica day I'd have thought purely as it has that Download crossover fan base, we need to be there for the Friday too. You have NFG and Simple Plan which give a punky pop side to it and if that finishes early, it wouldn't be far off done ready for the sub. I may be speaking more personal terms there as I'd want to see all 3 but Knife Party is the one sticking out. How often to people go on about get The Prodigy and Pendulum to sub them, you can't but you can get the next best thing. I can't think of many acts that a lot of your Prodigy fans would rather go see than Knife Party straight after. There is the Bizkit clash in some ways but from the people I know it'd only be one or the other, not much crossover interest for both.

The special guest bit doesn't mean anything, been used before, it's just a tag for sub still TBC but I reckon there could be a deal in place and agreement that yes Reading can share them as well but they need to wait to announce. I don't mean to talk riddles etc etc but looks at the fests they are playing around that time, look at the history of crossover with Reading, even NOS Alive share a lot. I'd said right from when The Prodigy had Thursday/Friday gigs V weekend that it wouldn't happen, it was only lucky that swayed me a bit like it would any of us.

They are doing the equivalent at T again this year dude. What's the difference? I guarantee you that if Reading had an outdoor 2nd stage bigger like T then The Prodigy would play that instead, and again, it'd be the same actual size position just on a different stage.

Surely Alt-J can't be the special guest as they're playing 'Rock en Seign' from August 28th to 30th, same dates as R and L..

RES and R&L are known for sharing acts as well as it only being in France

Why r people saying Prodigy can only play on libs day? They're not doing anything LF weekend (according to their website)

They're busy the week before...

Prodge are in Switzerland on the 22nd of August. So they're 1000000000% not at V.

They were announced for this on in the middle of Feb... Like the 19th.

    • The first half of that game was cracking but then I fell asleep at half time. Maybe that's just the momentum of things.

    • A win is a win but it was a very poor game with only 4 shots on target in the whole game. Scotland obviously handed a massive bonus with Brazil and Morocco drawing but I don't think either of them will be too worried.
