I did this with the reading forum, it would work well here.

Three things you want next year.

For me:

  • Silver hayes - better sound and bigger stages.
  • Arcadia away from the other stage, It didn't work.
  • The lineup to be a little bit more star studded, like it was a few years ago.

That's all from me.

that's a subjective thing. From where I'm sat this year was much more star studded than Glastonbury has been for quite a while.

Inclined to agree here, it's not an area of the festival I have ever really enjoyed and it seems like there is a huge space that could be used for something new and interesting. I'm not sure what though?

In hindsight and to be fair, I was being a bit casual throwing that comment in.

This year was a change for that area, and it can`take a year or two to get an area working how you'd like it to - so I'd have no problem if next year they did something similar, tho hopefully ironing out some of the issues that area had this year. There was probably enough that was good with it for it to deserve another chance.

I didn't feel that anything much changed when Jazzworld became West Holts a few years back, but I thought that this year everything there clicked into place very well. So perhaps Silver Hayes needs a few years to bed-in in a similar way, and it'll be worth it in the end.

Well - if you were neither a jazz nor a world music act you might wonder why you were getting billed there. A lot of the larger acts they've had on there recently - Public Enemy, Chic, Chase & Status, Bobby Womack, Janelle Monae, Seasick Steve, Toots & the Maytals, etc. - don't fall into one of those two buckets. The current ethos of the stage is way more eclectic than that.

I really like the lack of limitation inherent in names like West Holts and Silver Hayes. They don't imply the dominance of any one genre of music that might otherwise scare off people who think they might not like that type of thing.

To me, 'Jazzworld' seems pretty dated and reductive.

I also think the stage looks a lot better now as well.

I'd say most of those acts would have always featured on that stage, change or not.

Heh, totally agree with everything Neil has said, tbh.

I think that Silver Hayes needs time to bed in and establish it's identity. I never found my way to the blues bar, but those I met who did had a fantastic time and there are some really good venues appearing, it seems.

I think it's fair to say that West Holts has just had it's best year in a long time as a stage and an area of the festival with it's own distinctive identity. The acts that have always played there have been an eclectic mix and it has always been the stage to find something new at for me, with some magical sunny afternoons spent with a reefer, a pint and a cheesie grin.

I think that Block 9 should be given more room to grow. They are talented guys who know their music and know their audience, I didn't get over there this year but the lineup they had over the week was stunning (if you like your classic house and acid era stuff). I know I'd rather spend the evening with fans of this scene than the associations we have with some of the dance village folk.

My fear with the success of the southeast corner is how there is no room to expand without impinging on the greenfields, avalon or cabaret when it is clear that this area is going to continue to evolve as a main attraction. Something is going to have to give and I, for one, would rather it be the southeast corner. Get some of those talented people out into silver hayes and give the corner some breathing room.
