Nah, that's great, shows it's been listened to, been to a few parties, been chucked about after a few late nights. Signs of life, bloody marvellous. Never be one of those kids who keep toys in their box to increase the value in 30 years time.

You don't keep 'em to sell on! You keep 'em to play and for their power to transfer to new impressionable minds!

Sure. Those were records that expanded minds and leaned warmth and colour into cold and grey bedsits. Nevertheless there were those that viewed them as timeless artifacts to be cherished. Nal's Dad is one of that ilk. Proper dude.

This has really set me thinking. In the 60s, were these things seen as anything other than temporary and of a limited value. The idea that pop music would be listened to in 40 years time and these things would have value as artifacts, or as collectors items was, I think, beyond the realms of possibility for most people. They were throwaway items, never meant to last more than a few years.

Listen to those early interviews with Jagger etc where they say they can't believe they'll still be doing this when they're 30. Nobody at that time believed it was any more than a passing fad. That makes a pristine collection even more valuable but also it's a fascinating thing to think about. Now it's all heritage and resissues and deluxe box sets and that but at the time, even the people making it didn't think it would last more than a year or two.

Fuck I love it when something on here sends me off on a ponder.

Probably going to get a sneery response, but I have a copy of "If You Want Blood" still with the original party based beery footprint right across it. The resulting skips will stay with me forever....

A complete absence of any flags in front of stages.

Disenfranchised: two or three hundred people who can still watch the bands stood in the same place, but no longer get to have one of their hands permanently out of use

Enfranchised: everyone else who can see everything, rather than it being a case that they might as well have watched it on the TV. And "tough, move then" doesn't work for the bands with bigger audiences. This was the one and only time I would ever get to see the Stones and I didn't get to SEE the Stones. Selfish.

No other requests, m'lud. Oh, Daft Punk would be nice.

It's a fair point. But people have always been "careful" with stuff. Granted you have your rough and ready headz but then you have the lovers of the artifact. People whose meagre collections meant the world to them.

Torrini's album is streaming here if you fancy giving it a spin. Really benefits from multiple listens. Comes across a bit "dreamy" and washy washy at first in all honestly. Slow burner. And the vocals are over produced for me. A lot of alternating double tracking. But I really like the album.

I had the 'pleasure' of seeing her around ten years ago. Gawd it was boring.

My wish, would be:

For every Band I have seen, for every Gig I have attend, for every Festival I have been too, I would glady give it all up, just to see Bowie...

Just one more time.....

    • If you didn't see melt banana at Apolo. Go see them at the festival. Insane.
    • Interesting, and thanks for coming back to give an update! I've seen that the second stage looks bigger than usual too, looks to be a Serious Stages - Stellar Stage from distance photos.    Seems like sizing wise stages have been scaled up somewhat this year.
    • I see its cancelled now but they did leave it really late to announce plus they are up against Kelburn Garden Party Festival not to far from the festival site.
    • Easily my favourite set of the day.
