After 2016 my gf is insisting on a tent she can stand up in, and she's 6'4!

google the battery capacity of your smartphone .... and then see how many times that will go into 5000 ... the answer will probably be between 1-2 charges

Not sure which thread to put this in but related to essentials.

I was told there are no longer places selling airbeds on site this year. Is this true? I’ve always bought mine when I got there as it’s easier than carrying one in with the rest of my stuff.

Yeah I'm 6'2 with old creaky bones so we've a quechua 4.1 tent for the last few years, being able to stand up makes all the difference!

The calculation is more like (5000 * 0.66) / [your phone's battery capacity]

This is because a power bank can only transfer around 2/3rds of it's capacity, due to various losses in the process. The cheaper / lower quality the power bank, the higher this loss will be.

We did this in 2017 - however it was 35c on the Weds and carrying it back upto our campsite was a nightmare!

I believe this is true...they are getting rid (or having less) of the camping essentials places as it encourages people to buy stuff that they wont take home so just adds to the mess left at the end. If people aren't willing to bring the stuff with them there's a good chance they wont take it home either especially if its cheap stuff like air beds and folding chairs

This may have been mentioned already, probably has.. but, are self-inflating mats worth the investment? And if they are, where's the best option to get one at the moment?

I also have a vango extra size, extra weight one - which is as comfortable as a mattress, but you'd need a trolley!!

Go outdoors a good option ....extra 10% off these prices at the moment with a card .... self inflators a lot lighter and less bulky .. they should be anyway

Fortunately I choose to have a quick look at this before it went in the recycling ... not the case with most of my junk mail ... if I remember rightly go outdoors have these hanging up so you can have a quick try too

mine was £15 from lidl, but aldi’s Camping stuff starts today and they have pretty much the same mat on sale if you wanted have a look when you go outdoors. 

Its a bit bulkier but I just strap it across my rucksack.

its 5cm thick which is the ideal thickness I think and fits me on it so you’ll be fine.

In what way is it better than an airbed, comfier? I have a bad back and roll mats aren’t enough for me, but our double air bed is a bit bulky.

I was just saying yesterday how ridiculous the varying size/pricing thing is on Amazon still normally cheaper than anywhere else though! Thanks @buffy394 I'll check it out.
