I know this is an incredibly childish thing to say, but I actually think I would be angry if Sigur Ros weren't booked. Everything looks right for them - the tour, the (relatively) new album, their size, the alternative they would offer to almost any Pyramid headliner, their undeniable quality, and the shared values the band seems to have with Glasto. It really seems crazy not to book them.

And I don't just say that because I love them. There are other acts I would rather see - The National, Leonard Cohen, Radiohead etc - but i can see issues with all of them, whereas the timing and fit for Sigur Ros is clear.

info coming my way has suggested that Glasto haven't got particularly far with their bookings as yet. There's plenty of convos and "it's very likely to happen" but not so many signed and sealed deals.

Emily distracted with the kid. Mick off down the farmers market picking out new shorts. That other hoor AWOL.

Who is running the show at Worthy Towers? Neil - despite the fact that it'd turn into wall to wall ska and dub - pick up the phone and offer yer services will ya FFS. Or are you waiting for the Efests 'Bat Signal' in the skies over Brizzle?

;)

Is this not getting to a point where they will have to throw a sub standard line up together, with bands that are available. With IoW, Reading, AEG, Live nation etc getting there 'exclusives' and a lot of bands on 'breaks' or missing in action!
exclusive acts tend to only be right at the top of the bill, and only at the biggest fests.

I'm talking about for acts lower than that, who are normally seen at a number of different fests thru any summer.

So unless the likes of R/L, etc, have started to tie-in acts all the way down their bill (which they've not been doing up to now) then it's not an issue at all.

lol - nah, it's not like that. Glasto have it all in hand from what i'm hearing, I'm merely saying that things haven't got to signed and sealed yet with many of the acts who will almost definitely be on the bill.

Act don't get booked up as early as some people assume. But with Glastonbury they never really have done as far as i'm aware.

Mike99 has gone quiet recently could this be related to acts not being confirmed? Is he in fact part of the booking team and an essential cog in the Glastonbury wheel therefore far too busy to spend time on efests? Also it's mock GCSE time, could he be too busy revising??

Or does his favourite saying 'patience' apply??

Always been an ambition of mine to headline a festival. Will be headlining 5 big UK music festivals this summer. More details soon

D'ya reckon he means actually headlining or just headlining a stage? I assume he just means the likes of BeachBreak, Global Gathering, Boardmasters, Wakestock, Wireless etc?

EDIT: In fact that's definitely what he meant...

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
