Just for the record the xx don't have a lead singer so that's a redundent argument.

I can't see how Atoms for Peace can be regarded as an Other stage headliner based solely on Thom Yorke being in the band, if I remember correctly Erasor wasn't even that well received and to compare the size of the xx and Black Keys against his solo work or Atoms for Peace isn't a fair comparison. People will show interest in it solely because it's Thom Yorke, Flea etc but only to have a gawp. In no way shape or form have they done enough to deserve a headlining slot on the Other Stage at Glastonbury becuase frankly they've done nothing of note yet.

That never answered the question, to quote you, you said:

"For the record, I'm interested in Thom Yorke and have literally zero interest in Atoms For Peace".

That's fine, but you then said:

"Thom's music these days bores me to tears, and I have no interest in his half baked and tedious material".

CONTRADICTION

I then asked didn't you think that was a contradiction and you said:

"I liked everything he did till about 2008, and I'm sure I'll listen to the next Radiohead album, even though it'll probably be terrible".

Steering away from the question of whether or not you had just contradicted yourself, which you obviously did, therefore making any sort of argument from you now on completely irrelevant.

You're just avoiding the actual point of all this and that's that AFP have no right and are nowhere near the level to headline other

Find contradictions all you like, I know what I meant, you're just looking petty. Sort of going along with the stereotype of Thom Yorke worshippers too.

If you read through what I have said so far you'll realise that I haven't actually said that Atoms For Peace deserve a headlining set on the Other Stage. I have compared Atoms For Peace's right to play to The XX's, (at first I also did include the Black Keys but that was a mistake as they do have a much wider catalogue of music). The second I mentioned Atoms For Peace people started shouting from the roof tops that they don't deserve it, where as I think they deserve it just as much as The XX do who are also getting their name thrown about for the same slot.

The xx have had 2 critically acclaimed albums, have toured extensively to sold out audiences and have built up a very solid fan base over the last few years - Atoms for Peace are currently little more than a novelty act and would only possibly be bandied about as a potential Other Stage Headliner becuase of Thom Yorke.

I still don't get why you are comparing them? In my view (I am a big fan of both the xx and Atoms/Thom/Radiohead) the xx would in fact be of suitable size for that show now whereas I don't think the same can be said of Atoms for Peace.

Atoms for Peace are big enough to headline the Park but that's about it in my opinion. Nowhere near big enough to headline the Other stage unless it's going to be a Thom mega mix again and he ends up bringing out members of Radiohead to do some Radiohead material....

...and just to slot my 2 cents in there I agree with Matt Ed-Banger records. I think it's fair to say that The XX or The Black Keys would headline of the back of what they've acheived thus far musically where as Atoms for Peace regardless of how good their album is, would only be near the top of a festival bill on the back of Thom Yorke.

Not saying they wouldn't be booked....just that it would be a shame if they were given that slot. Stick up third down on the Pyramid!

In fairness, Atoms For Peace wouldn't be in line to headline the Other Stage if they had completely ordinary band members - nor would they have the fanbase to play that slot, so a performance there wouldn't really be on musical credit.

I'm not condemning it, and I'm sure they'd put on an excellent show, it's just that anyone arguing it would be based on anything other than 'look, it's Thom Yorke and Flea in the same band' is a little naive.

Panic! At The Disco headlining was a dark day for the Other Stage, though. once the initial hype of Atoms For Peace releasing an album wears off, everybody will realise that it's not actually that good and will stop giving a shit about them

if Atoms For Peace are there i'd say subbing Other / headlining Park is your best bet, and even that's being generous

I reckon The Cribs will do Saturday in JPT against The Stones, because a dance act will be on Other.

My guess for Other headliners would be New Order, Smashing Pumpkins and Kraftwerk.

However, both Kraftwerk and Smashing Pumpkins are playing elsewhere on Friday, and I think it's pushing it to have Kraftwerk play with a day gap, let alone in consecutive days, and having Pumpkins on Saturday would contrast with my belief of having a dance headliner on Sat, so, er, i pretty much don't have a clue.

I think atoms for peace would be great headlining the park, the jp or debatably even the new silver hayes tent (though for the latter two they'd need to be up against other strong acts... possibly the stones). Otherwise probably a secret set? Personally i'd rather they didn't play the big stages so there's less likely to be people passively interested/expecting radiohead songs rather than those happy to hear eraser and amok.

Any chance of nine inch nails headlining other? Too heavy?
