Other stage headliners

I agree. I reckon they'll be looking to make the step up to headline slot at festivals now after subbing and headlining second stages for the past few years. Maybe they're destined to be the bridesmaid and never the bride, so to speak!

A repeat slot from 09 would lack a little imagination given the acts currently available to headline the Other Stage

(Almost) everyone on the R+L is in agreement that they would sub main stage there. Why then such a low slot for them at Glastonbury? If you compare their current size to that of White Lies, Kaiser Chiefs or Mumford and Sons (2011 remember) I think they'll headline. Maybe 3rd on Pyramid, but what with the darkness issue, Other seems far more likely.

i think the prodigy might have redeemed themselves as main stage headliners. i know theyve headlined the other stage (and the equivalent at the other major festivals) many times, but their last album was huge and they even pulled off a gig at milton keynes bowl and a download headline slot...

a few more names to throw into the pot that havent been mentioned so far:

chase and status - my money is definitely on these for the dance headliner

two door cinema club - managed to pull off reading/leeds 2nd stage last year and released an album since then, their current tour is sold out...

the vaccines - just had a number 1 album, and seem popular enough.

plan b - maybe an ill manors rap set?

ed sheeran - had an unbelievable year last year.

before Bestival i would've been quite excited about the prospect of The xx headlining the Other stage / being at Glastonbury, but they were so goddamn dull at Bestival that i really have no interest in seeing them again. if they play (and i assume they will) i'll watch pending clashes, but i hope they don't take a spot such as Other headliner (although apart from subbing it or Pyramid i can't see where else they'd go)

hey man, if sitting in a comfortable seat with my laptop on my lap isn't the festival experience then i don't know what is

care to elaborate on your comment? don't really understand the 'world of youtube' bit?

edit: never mind, three of your last four posts were about Mumford and Sons, two of which coincidentally contained Youtube videos. i'll be able to sleep at night

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
