Incase anyone was wondering this was the last full setlist they played. Yes it was in America but still, that wouldn't get me very excited. Add in a possible new album and a few other songs and it could be a very big miss.

to be honest i hope that there is either nobody at all on that i want to see at the same time as Arctics, or somebody absolutely incredible / unmissable, to make my decision easier. i'm hoping they do a few dates leading upto Glasto so that i can get a general idea of their setlist / live situation at the time

I agree that they are an obvious booking, but for me they are one I want. I really like them but haven't seen them live since Glastonbury 2007 because I'm just not one for paying £50 for gig tickets. 5 years is long enough for me. In 2007 they were very young & new and didn't quite rise to it. I'm going to be interested to see how they've developed live with greater maturity and a bigger back catalogue. They looked good at the Olympic opening ceremony and I'm looking forward to seeing them. My only reservation is the potential clash with Leftfield! How can I already have a clash at this stage?

Why will they never do Fake Tales? I know it's never gonna be a setlist fixture but a one-off is possible isn't it? What about a pure Greatest Hits set?

Nobody who likes the Arctic Monkeys even a little bit could be disappointed by that, surely?

Edit: I've actually got myself quite excited thinking about that setlist. How incredible would it be?

they'd never play that many songs from Whatever People Say..., as fantastic as it'd be. it's just a shame that that one album is so chock full of instant classics / fan favourites. i think they'd do A Certain Romance though, for sure. they must know that it's exactly what the fans want, and what better place to give the fans what they want than Glastonbury

the album could well be out by June... who knows. they haven't really given much clue as to where they are with it. i'd imagine so, though, if they were gonna headline a major festival. can't just play the same old songs they've been playing for the past two years

Absolute abomination of a band. Fair play they seem to be popular with the masses but I think they're awful. Not even close to being the best ever band from Sheffield, we all know who that is.............?

:D

I like the Artic Monkeys, and would go to see them if they were going to play anything like the set list above. I made a compo CD of my fave tracks across all four albums and out of about 16 that would fit only 5 were off Humbug and Suck it and See. That's the problem, and with a new album coming out surely they will stick a couple of new numbers in as well. Like the Gorillas set are we really guarenteed on what we are going to get? If they were to headline and came out and said that they are going to do a greatest hits set then i'd be front and centre, otherwise i'll see what else is about.

Am I the only person who person who prefers their current setlists? They have an even spread of about around four or give songs from each album, plus a few singles. I love the first two albums but Iv found that I end up listening to the latest two a lot more.

There are few bands that would make me happier as a Glastonbury headliner than Arctic Monkeys. They're not my favourite band (any more), but I was one of those who was just getting into rock music when the debut came out and ended up worshipping it. They're probably my most listened to band of all time. Because I'm bored, and should be revising, here's a dream set list:

Brianstorm

Crying Lightning

Library Pictures

Don't Sit Down Because I've Moved Your Chair

Red Light Indicates Doors Are Secured

From the Ritz to the Rubble

I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor

Fake Tales of San Francisco

Dangerous Animals

This House Is a Circus

Black Treacle

Leave Before the Lights Come On

The Bad Thing

That's Where You're Wrong

The Jeweller's Hands

505

Dance Little Liar

Do Me a Favour

Still Take You Home

Da Frame 2R

A Certain Romance

Obviously this is absurdly unrealistic and in no way reflects what I think they'll play. I need to stop looking at it because I'm getting a bit too excited at the prospect.

Also, +1 for the Submarine EP/Shadow Puppets idea. Would be lovely, but I can't see it happening.
