thesecretingredientiscrime
Shocking booking. Can R&L bookers really not come up with ideas of their own anymore? (This is from a booking point of view. I saw Em' two years ago at Tennants Vital and while it was good heritage stuff, it really wasn't worthy of a headline performance. He'll probably do the same amount of tracks as The Cure did, but I'm not sure that counts if you do 30 seconds of each of them).
VCK
All the people who think they're being so clever pointing out that that he's headlined before. You realise that back then he was reasonably new, cutting edge and different whereas now he's a bloated parody of himself with very little new to bring to the table. willutalk
This announcement is a grower, despite probably not seeing Eminem It's an alright booking and my expectations were low already.hopefully it'll be an older style reading lineup. mrtourette
isn't that the case with most headliners these days? : ) Edited December 10, 2012 by mrtourette
Buko
I'd much rather Eminem headline then the likes of The Killers, KOL or any other recycled indie headliner, He's a huge booking, will sell loads of day tickets, his last album was a huge success and I'd be shocked if his next one wasn't too (which will be out before R/L) Edited December 10, 2012 by Buko
Lambo_KoRn
with eminem and deftones playin im considering actually going next year! unless they play a euro fest im going to next year, im hoping they play the same day so i dont have to put up with a whole weekend of the usual shite!! Andre91
Absolutely delighted with this. He basically mimes now, but I really don't care, the guy is an icon and I'll be having a great time watching.
foodage
Wasn't gonna go this year, but if it does turn out to be Sabbath as well as Eminem, I'm there.
gazza_20
i wouldn't be shocked at all to see biffy sub to him. someone mentioned dizzee, they won't have two raps one after another.
FloorFiller
Yeah but I have a particular distaste for this talentless fuckwit. If people like him then fair enough, it's just my opinion, but it's not a booking I can get being in any way at all. Last time I hated his music but the actual booking made sense, but not this time. VCK
If one of the headliners from 2001 is playing, can we have another please Festival Republic? And put the Manics back where they belong, at the top of festival line-ups?
TomMack
Well it's different at least. I hope someone i like plays though..

thetime
how does the booking not make sense? imo it's probably the most clever announcement Reading and Leeds have made since Kings Of Leon in '09. it'll almost guarantee a sell out, it's a totally different type of act to the norm, he hasn't played in ten years. it's just what Reading and Leeds needed tbh. it may attract a FEW of the wrong type of people, but it's a genius booking and it's better than, say, Mumford & Sons. much better

FloorFiller
Guaranteed sell out? Do people still listen to him? If muse and foos cant sell it out eminem has no chance.
thetime
Muse and Foos tour the UK constantly and are always headlining a festival. it's a rarity if they're not touring. anybody who wants to see them has hundreds of opportunities all the time to see them. Eminem barely ever plays the UK and is one of the biggest selling artists in the world. he has more chance of selling out Reading and Leeds than any other act (who would play Reading and Leeds)

alex28
I am genuinley shocked, but very happy. Always wanted to see Eminem, will be intersting to see if the heavier day is on the Eminem day? I reckon Sabbath will ne at Soni
Dukeeyyy
This for me is massive because i listened to him growing up and have never had a chance to see him, i'm chuffed. Think it's a bit of a marmite booking, but i for one am very happy. I can see Eminem System Of A Down/Bloc Party (someone like that) Deftones Edited December 10, 2012 by Dukeeyyy
