Florence won't headline. wouldn't be surprised to see her as one of the Pyramid subs, but her headlining would be a travesty (and wouldn't make sense as her newest album is a year and a half old so she'll have nothing new to bring)

i'd rather she wasn't there at all though and for somebody else to not butcher Gimme Shelter with the Stones

it was even worse live

I can summarise the gig easily:

<springsteen shouts> one! two! three! four! <cue a MOR plodding rock song that sounds excactly the same as the last one>

Mumfords would have to go some to be more popular at the festival than Coldplay surely? *Not a comment on how good / bad they are just on how popular. Coldplay do seem to have a particular hold and feel for the festival.

Flo would have a big crowd I'm sure, the crowd on the Other Stage a couple of years ago was massive for her late afternoon slot.

But bigger crowds at The Pyramid than The Stones or Prince? Really? I'm trying to be objective and not let my personal taste influence this... Have I misjudged the demographic here? I would imagine The Stones and Prince could pull some of the biggest Pyramid Stage crowds ever.

I went to see arcade fire at hyde park a couple of years ago and mumfords were the support. The place was RAMMED for mumfords, and about 25% of the crowd went home after them, and didnt even bother watching a single note of arcade fire

and they have only got massively more popular since.

I really believe mumford and sons would pull an unbelievably big crowd. I also reckon 50% of them wouldnt be able to name more then 2 prince songs!

    • That second part was how I felt about Rock IM Park this year trying first. I found that when it gets to like the 3rd act on the main stage down, you've gotta make a choice to miss anything leading up might not enjoy and it's sometimes while closer for not a great view as everyone in turn has to make the call too. Being short doesn't help as I'd just be able be further bacm but still see.
    • I wasn’t slagging Scooter off, they are undeniably silly. As I said, they are the definition of a meme booking for Download. People requested them for years because it was silly.

    • Having done all three, Porto is lovely, very chilled but nowhere near as exciting as Barcelona (nor as many options). Bilbao BBK has charm but again not a patch on Barcelona really.   ps and the beer was 5.50, not 5, last year 😉
    • Honest question and with the risk of getting slaughtered, do you feel people should stop the chatting on the entire field? When my group is in the front rows we surely keep the talking to a minimum and largely only about how great or bad the artist is. But surely on the main field when you are further back (lets say around the bars (200 meters from the podium) you should be able to have a conversation. If people are still annoyed about that I would recommend them moving up further.
