you're talking about their recorded output, albums. True longeivity comes from songs becoming known outside of the recorded version, when they take on a life of their own.

Albums are dead, anyway, get with the show, grandads/grandmas

It's probably true that the Styones don't have a communal singalong number in the vein of a Hey Jude or a Blowin' In the Wind.

Or even a Wonderwall or an Angels.

Only You Can't Always get What you Want gets even close to it.

But then, as noted, they're a blues and rock'n'roll band.

yeah, precisely. I mentioned satisfaction and gimme shelter. I'm not convinced the rest of those you listed have really crossed over into becoming 'folk' (not really the word I want, but you get what I mean) songs. I'm definitely NOT arguing it's a mark of quality, but it is a mark of longeivity and a mark of whether a song *lasts*

Not explained that well, I'm probably even less convincing when I'm slurring over a pint and banging a table, annoyed at my own inarticulacy, but I'm happy to give it a go

Agreed, Satisfaction is probably the number one Stones sing along tune, although Brown Sugar would run it close. I Love Angie ( but thats another story :) ) and You can't always get what you want if backed by a choir would be great!

Yeah forgot JJF, also Paint it Black , the list is getting bigger. Surely they have to play, i wonder if Mick made a call to David B and asked him about Glasto ?

Something along the lines off,

" Hello Dave man, so this Glastonbury gig man, do you think it's worth doing or what ? "
