When Iron Maiden won the Brit for best live act,an award voted for by Radio 2 listeners, you could just see the look of bemusement on the crowds faces, especially Coldplay. I think they got the same amount of votes as all the other acts put together. They hated it so much that they kept blocking all youtube videos of their acceptance speech.

brilliant moment

Maybe be the stones have said yes already and with nobody lined up to do the Sunday they asked Mumfords to move across?

if they did that, they only did that after first approaching a number of other acts about headlining the Sunday - because I know they very definitely spoke to a number of bands about headlining after Fleetwood Mac said they wouldn't do it.

Neil when do you expect all the BRITS information to start coming in? Or is it a case of having it already and wanting to cross reference it all?

as I've already posted somewhere, for the first time since I've had some secret squirrels there it's drawn me a blank this year. :(

It's one of those things where it needs a right place/right time element, and it just didn't happen.

From this performance Mumford and Sons are nowhere near headliner standard.

Marcus looks like he is absolutely baking.

Get Metallica instead.

Well done Sandé though on album of the year

Something I posted on Facebook:

Do I even need to post just how AWFUL the Brit Awards have been!!!!!

Muse are the only rock band in performance and we are giving Dave Grohl the wrong impressions of Britain. My favourite acts are from the international awards. This needs a change.

Thats what I mean.

They approach a few bands a get nothing back. Meanwhile The Stones have said yes to play so instead of asking any more bands they approach Mumfords to headline since they were ready to step in incase The Stones said no.

But for it to be true it would mean The Stones would have had to say yes by now and nobody seems to think they have yet.

I'm pretty sure that they've still not given their answer. I reckon that when they have given their answer - which ever answer it is - it'll become public within a week at very most.

I reckon they won't give their answer until after HRC tickets have gone on sale - that is, if the Stones are one of the HRC calling acts.

The thing I find weird is when people mention a new British music invasion in the US, 4 of the 5 best selling albums in the US last year were by British acts (Adele, Mumfarts and One Direction * 2) - yet most people here would find the announcement that any one of these were playing Glasto as abhorrent

It must show that the UK is very good as 'manufacturing' popular music these days (with reality music shows and the Brit school for example) I suspect Emily Sande will hit the big time over there next year as well

That said we, and the rest of the world in my opinion, aren’t that great at creating good new music at the moment, as the comments about most rumoured bands at Glasto shows. There isn’t a great deal of originality out there currently

I am still very positive though, yeah we are in a bit of a lull musically at the moment, but I am sure it will come back. There is still some good stuff out there, its just harder to find

Just my opinion of course
