Its incredible - no doubt about it. But there are too many unforgivable flaws on there. The gash detracts from it. If you cut it to this - in my humble etc...

USSR

Prudence

Guitar Gently Weeps

Happiness Warm Gun

So Tired

Blackbird

I Will

Julia

Yer Blues

Nature's Son

Skelter

Cry Baby Cry

Good Night

...it's their best record. Without the trimming that award still is held by Revolver.

Stick Penny Lane/SFF on Pepper and thats yer winner btw.

Know what you mean but I think the gash adds to it. A band at the toppermost of the poppermost. Full arrogant flow.

Also, you'd cut Why Dont We Do It On The Road, Everybodys Got Something to Hide. Sexy Sadie, Long Long Long, Revolution 1 and Revolution 9?!

The Stones often seem oddly unpopular for such a big-selling band. Maybe it's because they don't have one obvious 'go to' album a la Sgt. Pepper or Back in Black or what have you. I mean I'll put Exile On Main St in the ring with any album ever made, but it's not exactly bursting with well-known songs. The average spod in the street probably doesn't recognise a track like Happy or Tumbling Dice.

The Stones will suffer from not having one totally cohesive, accessible "masterpiece". The Beatles have got three or four. I like Aftermath, Banquet, Exile, Let it Bleed, but there are songs that warrant skipping on all of them. I don't really see how you can level any criticism at Sgt. Pepper and keep a straight face. I don't go for all that 'liking an album because it's considered a classic', but just listen to it! I'd probably lose sixty-four and replace lucy with strawberry fields but that's just nit-picking. SF Sorrow sounds the most dated of all the albums mentioned from that period, and even that's still brilliant. Also, Pepper's got one of, if not the, greatest song of all time in A Day in the Life, so don't diss yo.

Rubber Soul's still the best though, the sound of a band beginning to experiment, and a taste of things to come, ahhh

I can understand those arguments about editing the White Album down to one album, but to me the beauty of it is the fact it goes down so many strange paths. I think it has a slight air of menace, perhaps brought on by the knowledge of the effect it had on the Manson family, as well as the group's obvious disintegration.

    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
    • Been last time in 2018 when the festival was happening in parque Bela vista. ls the new location good for such a big festival? What's the temperature in the evening near Tejo? Should we bring a raincoat or a jacket?

    • Chemical Brothers? All for it cause they’re phenomenal live but struggle to see how they’d go down. Would anticipate Chase and Status/Prodigy coming back at some point though.
