i don't understand so many people putting Kanye in places other than headlining the Pyramid

one of the biggest rap artists of the 2000's, tons of hits and chart success under his belt, and let's not forget that f*cking huge ego of his

also, didn't Neil have him down as the 2008 headliner before Jay Z was announced?

no way would be play fourth, or even second

he would make a damn good headliner though

Havent the last few years lineups shown theres no way to accurately predict the pyramid stage line-up. The lineups for the pyramid are getting more eclectic and strange by the year. Would anyone have predicted Spinal Tap in 2009 or Dead Weather/Shakira/SS/Muse this year ?

Saying that I think Mumford and Sons should be given a high slot on the other stage.

Yeah agree with the first bit. He might be that, but he released one of the best hip-hop/rap records of the decade, and puts on a great show. He's got a new album out next year as well. Would love to see him do the Late Orchestration tour show with all the strings and dancers, but doubt he'll go back to that.

I do like TCV, first time I saw them supporting Arctic Monkeys at Brixton thought they were incredible, but then seeing them at Reading, it was evident their show doesn't translate. I'd recommend seeing them in a small venue.

after hearing the new record I would LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the arcade fire to headline.

However I doubt it as I heard somewhere they hated playing Glasto when they did. Although IMO their beliefs and charitableness and the type of music that they play would put them over as a QUALITY headliner.

ARCADE FIRE FOR 2011!!!

Just had a few listens to the new album, first time didn't think much of it but after a few listens it's a definite grower. Can't wait to see them at Reading and think it's a bit of a brave choice for a more commercial festival.

Would love to see them at Glastonbury but now they're 'proper' headliners would they take a sub headline slot on the Pyramid or do the Other?

I'm really disappointed that Glastonbury wasn't the festival that gave Arcade Fire their first headline slot in the UK. Considering that bands like Kings of Leon and the Arctic Monkeys were handed Pyramid headline slots after two albums Arcade Fire would not even have been a risk. Although they'd probably have suffered from people moaning they didn't have enough 'big songs'.

By next year The Suburbs will have been toured to death and I fear the boat may have sailed. This album is sensational though, they are far too good not to headline.

As Swede said it's just about possible they might accept a sub-headline slot beneath someone as big as the Stones but we know that isn't going to happen and given Dizzee was handed the slot beneath U2 this year I think that tells us a fair bit about how prestigious that is considered to be.

But short of a lineup of U2, Led Zep and Waters + Gilmour it would be a travesty if Arcade Fire didn't headline and dross like Take That or Kylie did.

God damn, I saw these headline the other stage in '92. I had "sampled some of the local fungi", gone off on my own to see NAD and ended up about 3 rows from the front. About 10 seconds into the gig I realised what a terrible mistake this had all been. Due to all the thrashing about in the crowd, my shirt flew off (yes I was actually wearing a shirt), my shoes and socks vanished, and my shorts and pants were working their way down past my knees when I realised I had to get out of there fast. I managed - no idea how, divine intervention possibly - to find all my clothes and extricate myself to what I thought was a clear anomaly maybe 6-8 feet across, but still pretty close to the front. Got my clothes back on to realise that the reason this area was clear was because there was - I don't really know how else to describe this - a huge, bearded troll-like man, standing in the middle of this spot, windmilling his arms and huge fists around like an effing barbarian in a berserker trance, and roaring. Roaring.

Apart from that it was great. "Kill your Television" was of course a crowd moment. And I appear to have been dressed like a tit :)
