Memory Man I fear you may be correct. Rumour has it Daft Punk will tour 2010/2011 but given that they can get a lot more money elsewhere and have no real affinity or history at Glasto then seems unlikely they would be there. I would love to be wrong though saw them on Daftendirekt tour in 97 which was ace.

If U2 did headline, surely they'd need someone pretty big for the other stage? The Cure? Just wishful thinking, but...

Also, are Radiohead only being mentioned because they'll have a new album out by then, or do people know something?

APOLOGIES, they appeared 2nd billing in 05 and headlined 07 (the years tend to blur after a while!!), doesn't change the fact that the sound was shiiiiiiite. To be fair though, as luscious as a Killers headliner would be again, good old Mr flowers did say that their last appearance at Glasto would be it for quite some time.

I just can't see Coldplay AND radiohead headlining, and out of the two, I think Radiohead is the stronger contender.

And as for Snow Patrol, for a band taking 'time off' they have been quite busy lately!!

.........OK, been thinking a little more...perusing my glasto programmes.....

2011 is the 40th anniversary of the Glastonbury Fayre. A book is being realeased by andrew Kerr (co-founder) In honour of this, the pyramid stage is apparently going retro, and there will be artists from the 1971 lineup playing on it.....

this includes one Mr David Bowie

Friday night with Ziggy anyone?

So now I'm thinking:

Pyramid - 1)Bowie, 2)Radiohead & 3)Kylie or Gaga or Beyonce

Such early days... but I hope the Bowie rumour is correct. It would be one of the few things that would finally persuade my wife to come with me.

Saw him on his last live tour and it was one of the best stadium shows I've seen. On the Pyramid with all the fantastic sing-along numbers... I think it might even top this year, and that will take some doing.

Those that appeared in 1971 -

David Bowie - last album release Jan 2010 from his 2003 'Reality' Tour

The Edgar Broughton Band - currently recording a new album

Arthur Brown - played Glasto 2010 in the Glade

Fairport Convention - still recording and touring

Gong - played Glade, Glasto 09

Hawkwind - June 2010 releasing new album

Joan Baez - still recording and performing

Pink Fairies - have released albums up to 2008

Quintessence - recent glasto performance

Terry Reid -2009 glasto appearance

Traffic - partial reunion 2004

Pink Floyd (Unable to perform due to poor stage access for their set)- 2008 live performance

....if the '1971 acts' line is to be followed for the 2011 retro pyramid then surely we've got to see either Bowie or Pink Floyd(if they can tolerate each other!) as the sunday night legend?

2011 is the anniversary of the Glastonbury Fayre, there's a tie-in with Andrew Kerr's book, and it's already been announced that the pyramid stage will be going retro in honour of the occaision and that acts from that year will be appearing on it....apart from quintessence - Bowie seems like a possible contender

I spoke with Andy Kerr at this years festival, I camp by him each year. Now this is a man whos memory is a little shot (he went offsite 3 times to get something and forgot it each time.) what he says has to be taken with a large pinch of salt. So, he said that a Pyramid stage was to be set up on the Common with Hawkwind (Nik Turners Space Ritual), Quintessence, Arthur Brown playing. Also David Bowie was booked as was Steve Winwood. So maybe Bowie will be on the main stage. Hope they have something special for him and Arabella as without them we would have no festival. Eavis was very much against it at the time.

As for non-headliners, I want...

Emmy the Great (new album will surely be out by then, so...multiple sets again?)

Asobi Seksu (new album early next year, never played, shoegaze/dream pop seems discriminated against and this needs to be fixed)

Chemical Brothers (on the Other Stage during a Pyramid headliner I don't want to see)

Bat for Lashes (will be due to return by then, yes?)

Beck (hasn't played in ages)

Portishead (Pyramid pre-headliner or East Holts headliner?)

Cat Power (never played, new album in the works)

Blonde Redhead (new album in September, never played, will be hitting the festival circuit again next year)

Feist (never played, new album should be out by then)

How to Destroy Angels (I dunno if this will ever tour, though)

Royksopp (it's been a while, would love to see them)

    • Geese playing for 1:20 instead of just an hour was a lovely surprise. The energy was great!
    • Oh well that's why then, I assumed it was still the same. Thanks!
