Who's watching what on tv

Didnt realise "Spiral" was back for another series, my dad told me yesterday that we had already missed 2x double bills of it on the last 2 saturdays, so started that on iplayer last night.

Highly recommended french (subbed) cop drama, set in Paris. There's some pretty grisly content, especially in the first season. The writing and acting is superb.

Its probably my favourite of all of the overseas cop dramas, I preferred it to "The Killing" when everyone and their dog were watching the original "The Killing" from Denmark.

Finally got round to watching the first two episodes of Agent Carter last night! Really liked , think its maybe better than first two episodes than Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D as it seemed to jump straight into the story than taking its time to set everything up. (Guess its cause its a mini series, and we already know who Peggy Carter is.)

Hayley Atwell both kicks ass and is damn hot at the same time!

That's not really hard since SHIELD was so dull.

Angel was absolutely brilliant while it lasted I thought.

At times. The end was dogshite, season 1 was really laboured through most of it, and some of the stuff

regarding his son

was really weird and ridiculous. I think it looked better than it was because seasons 4-6 of Buffy were equally patchy.

Have many spin off ended up working as good / better than the originals? Can only think of Frasier off the top of my head.

Joey :ninja:

Technically Star Trek: TNG was a spinoff and that was actually better than TOS :P

I haven't watched it yet, but am about to sit down with a new Adam Curtis film (he did the section at the end of 2014 wipe and some excellent films in the past about the world we live in today). Earlier today I was trying to track down a copy of "All watched over by machines of loving grace" and then randomly saw this was on iplayer.

Brilliant viewing. Why wasn't this on TV? Maybe because it's thought provoking and 2 hours long. A lot of criticism online about the length and the scenes with no narration that weren't part of the main story. They were some of my favourite parts.

Started watching Century Of Self, should I watch Power Of Nightmares after that?

New comedy in the US called Backstrom. It's... I dunno. Some of the dialogue and plot is cringeworthy, but at the same time, it can be incredibly funny.

It's about this cop called Backstrom. He's the worst kind of arsehole cop that gets results. And only Dennis Haysbert is close to being likeable here.

We are binge watching due to maternity/paternity leave. A handful of episodes of The Shield left - really enjoyed it, can see where Kurt Sutter developed his style for Sons - lots of scheming by Vic in the same way Jax did.

Watched Brooklyn Nine Nine and loved it - daft fun.

Started House again from the beginning.

And plodding through the second to last series of The League - also very silly, more hit and miss than the earlier series but good for mindless TV watching.

I can see why people would level that criticism, but didn't find it detracted, similarly the length was not an issue for me. As for why not on TV, this is the model for BBC3 exclusive content now, I think.

So a Netflix owner then. :P

The Shield is horribly underrated when it comes to talking about the top shows ever.

Surely maternity leave is the reason Netflix was invented? ;)

It's a great show - I loved CCH Pounder in Sons so really enjoying her in this. Unfortunately the binge watching has made it a little samey (oh here we go, Vic and Shane in hot water again...) but that's our own fault for watching it back to back.

Anything else you'd recommend in a similar vein? We've done most of the big shows...
