Started watching Boardwalk empire season 3, after I decided to stop watching a while ago after a weak second season

So far I'm enjoying season 3, it moves faster then the previous season and there are some new interesting characters as well.

Any thoughts about this, from those who watched boardwalk empire

Agree about series 2. Pretty weak.

But, Gyp Rosetti is one of the all time great TV baddies. Keep watching! Series 4 is excellent and so is 5 so far.

Boardwalk is one of my all time favourite shows. Sad there are only 3 episodes left. I'd love to see a spin-off showing Capone and Luciano's rise to power since they skipped that by jumping seven years. Won't happen though.

Currently powering through SOA (just finished S5E3), then I'm going to watch Twin Peaks.

Agree. Seems like that story is/was only getting going!

I like Boardwalk empire, but find it disappointing at the same time. Its one of the programs that had all the tools to be great and is instead just very good. Its not one of those shows that I could see myself watching all the episodes again.

There is some fantastic acting, it looks great, but I have always felt there was something missing. I have personally found the character of Nucky Thompson to be a little weak as the main character and felt he ran his course by series 3. When his storylines are on, I cant help but want to see more Van Alden, Chalky, Capone etc. I remember when West Wing started they saw the Rob Lowe character as the star, but changed course when they discovered there were several more interesting characters. I wonder if Boardwalk Empire should have done something similar.

Havent read back through the thread, but has anyone mentioned the return of a brand new "twin peaks" in 2016?

Directed by David Lynch himself!

part of me thinks "leave it alone", another part of me thinks "woohoo, twin peaks!"

I await with baited breath. My ex and I were twin peaks obsessives the first time round, my son now wants to watch the original series to find out what the fuss is about, so we're going to embark on that mission soon :)

I recently rewatched the film, on the basis of having listened to a Mark Kermode rant about how it stood on it's own as a great piece of work, when viewed separately from the series. It didn't.

Agree with this yeah. I would've loved to see much more of the Chicago crew, Luciano and Lansky etc as opposed to fictional characters like Margaret. The real story is way more interesting than anything they could make up!

They were sort of snookered with the name though! I'd love a spin off. Although we're already seeing the end of Capone in it.

I rewatched the pilot a coupla weeks ago, I sobbed when Leland was on the phone with his wife as sheriff truman walked in. Twin Peaks was one of the finest 40ish hours I ever invested.

im having exactly the same problem couchy, as a freesat user (dave isn't on freesat) - I cant get the bastard. I watched it "live" the other night on our bedroom telly (which is freeview) but cant find it to download anywhere. also the "dave player" online wont work as I have an alternative DNS set up on my router for netflix shenanigans!

I love dave gorman, and would love to see them all!

That scene is truly harrowing. You need some log lady or silent blinds to counteract that kind of emotion.

Would it work if you used something like Zenmate and set the location to UK?

Dave has an online on demand service like iPlayer!!! Its all on there!

I didn't realise they had this service. I'm loving its stand up style... like a cross between Russell Howard's Good News & Adam Buxton's The Bug (which is amazing & available on YouTube).

Although I have lied to my mom, telling her I'm applying for jobs.

Watching it now, as my MacBook isn't up to date with streaming services from Dave/4OD although fine with ITVplayer & iPlayer.

Too intellectual for this thread...? :P

There's been an excellent post-WW1 3-part documentary on BBC2 the last few weeks called 'Long Shadow' presented by some Cambridge history professor (not one I've seen on TV before), that has gone thru the effects that WW1 has had across Europe as the years have gone by, and looked at things thru those years rather than how things might be viewed from just today's perspective.

There's been few facts within it that I haven't already known of, but the way it's walked thru things and stitched pieces together has been fascinating, and this history buff has enjoyed it immensely.

I'm guessing it's all available on iPlayer, for anyone that's interested.

I don't get the Twin Peaks hype, I got through most of the 1st season before I just had enough. It reminds me of Desperate Housewives but even with blander acting.

I'm watching Gotham, Sons Of Anarchy and Impratical Jokers as the only shows I'm watching right now.
