I enjoyed the framing of the episode with the swords (both Arya's needle and her father's) and also the hound.

"Alot of people name their swords"

"Alot of people are c**ts".

Just brilliant, deadpan with great comic timing.

He plays someone from the Bank of Braavos I think, but didn't see the character in ep 1.

Was a great start to the series. I'm thinking it was a mistake to get ahead with the books, as I was thinking throughout things like "that doesn't happen then", "he didn't say that".... Still a good watch, but I need to get properly ahead in the books before S5, as the despite being near the end of book 3, some threads have overtook me, while others are way behind and it confuses my little mind.

Yes a good start, but as with the first episode of season 3, it was more of a set-up episode than anything else. The second part of the third book is probably my favourite book of the series, so I am looking forward to seeing the upcoming events on the screen!

Yeah they have jumbled things up a bit. E.g. Theon doesn't appear in the third book(s) at all. All the stuff with him from the previous series actually happens in book 4.

Was a bit odd in the titles as it had Winterfell and the Dreadfort, but couldn't place any action there (unless Arya was near Boltonville and the Wildlings were classed as Winterfell).

Windy - I know what you mean B3 pt 2 is really good and can't wait for some of those scenes on the big screen.

Think the guy they got to play Oberyn was a masterstroke though.

I've purposefully held off on reading beyond book 2 in order that I can watch the show, then read the books and enhance my enjoyment that way, myself. My son has read all the books and, while I forbid spoilers he had been raving about what a great character Oberyn is, so I look forward to finding out more as it progresses.

O_o the dicks!!! (Since I've started watching GoT I've become a bit miffed about spoilers :P, but there isn't any real excuse for a newspaper website to do something like that!).

Speaking of which, I got round to watching the Season 4 episode. Very good, enjoyed that lot and you can see there are some exciting things to come.

Daario Naharis, is there a particulary good reason why he has been recast so dramactically? I get that it is a different actor, but surely he should like some what similar to the previous one?

Have not seen the GOT spoiler, but the fact that it was big enough for them to put it up and then take it down pissing off a load of people in the meantime in of itself pisses me off! I dont like the fact that I will now watch tonight waiting for the "big moment" that the spoiler was..........Knowing theres a spoiler kinda spoils it! (If ya get me?)

But defo better than actually knowing the spoiler for sure!

And I think we're up to our 3rd or 4th Mountain.

I think it was in the preview show a few weeks ago and one of the actors said that in previous series, there was the build up throughout, then BAM episode 9. But for S4, every other episode is an episode 9. Could be hype, but from the books there's some big events ahead. Though looking at the episode list, they are going to drag it out a bit, so really not sure what order they will do it.

Well...

That was good, wasn't it? I'm not happy to see the back of Joffrey though. As much of a cock as he was, I think this made him brilliant to watch, and he was so excellently played as well.

His antics during the wedding, especially with Tyrion, were incredible. The scene where he wants Tyrion to bow to him was as tense a scene as GoT has seen so far. Even Tywin was looking a bit uneasy at what was going on, and that guy is not shaken by much. Have to wonder who it was that did the business though.

I think I watch too much TV! :(

Or rather, record too much to keep up with.

Currently have the following series linked:

Game of thrones

Hostages

The Americans

Grimm

XIII

The Following

Agents of SHIELD

Believe

Looking forward to Penny Dreadful starting soon too!

I had a lot of those series linked as well, but have had a bit of a cull, as running out of time / patience with them. Grimm and the Americans have been canned and I'd delete Hostages if it wasn't the last episode coming up.

What do you reckon to Believe - I'm 2 episodes in and it looks ok, but think it might get a bit formulaic.

Also really bored of Revenge - just keeps going round and round.

Enjoying Tomorrow People, Blacklist, Good Wife and Suits at the mo.

Plus trying out the new thing with Sawyer from Lost in - Intelligence. Then my guilty pleasure of Warehouse 13 starting up next week.

ANd have new Mad Men from last night to watch.

Yup...too much tv.

The Americans and Grimm haven't been canned, they were recently renewed for a 3rd and 4th season respectively. Check their wikipedia pages.

Believe is a good switch off brain show. I've never seen Revenge. I'd forgotten about The Blacklist, that is ace! Plus The Arrow..that is starting to get good now.

Intelligence looks like it could be good...

Although, none of these are as important as the return of Jack bauer on May 7th!

Ah ok, I thought you meant they had cancelled them! :)

The new 24 is going to be ace...Stephen Fry as the British PM! :)

    • Looking like will be bringing a 2-3 month old to Glastonbury next year
    • Healey's first budget with be Oct 28th
    • Been going for 10 years. Wasn't massively keen on the lineup beforehand - although as usual after some research I did start to really look forward to it. We had a brilliant time, felt more like old school Latitude, lovely vibe and we met some nice people. We saw loads but highlights for me -   Lime Garden Florence Road Jalen Ngonda David Byrne - Not a fan of him or TH really but we went out of interest and it was one of those festival shows that you'll never forget. The staging was off the scale. Eleni Drake - Up on BBC Introducing, what a haven that stage is.  Westside Cowboy Getdown Services - Probably highlight of the weekend for me. Absolutely brilliant and have booked tix for them in Bristol next year. Everything Everything - They're my favourite band so I loved it when they were added. A great start to Sunday and met loads of their fans up near the front. Alex James Britpop - We enjoyed it and Gary Stringer FFS! David O'Doherty - Saw him twice, brilliant as usual. Self Esteem - Adore Rebecca and the show was as live affirming as always.   Overall, it was such a brilliant weekend. Beforehand we said that we might give it a miss next year but I'm pretty sure that we'll be sucked right back in!
    • Me too.  Reckon they must have more this year.   Not bad is it - ended up paying same price as this year.  It still represents great value for me.  Well, until I check my bank account the Monday after the weekend.
    • Well mayors have more powers to do that sh*t...but they have to make the numbers add up.
