2026 line-up speculation

As in previous years, I've compiled a big playlist for this, covering the whole lineup with the songs each act has performed most over the past year or so (so far as possible). I'll share it here in case anyone finds it useful:

(And I'd had the foresight to include Geese even before today's announcement!)

For what it's worth, this is the current speculative clashfinder (don't take it entirely as read but...) with the acts we have day confirmations for highlighted.

Ah brilliant, cheers! I was thinking of asking if you could highlight the confirmed ones but then I thought it would be too much hassle. It's looking fairly close now isn't it... still wouldn't be surprised if Mac Demarco and CMAT are the other way round though.

Personal Trainer start a UK tour on 6 Sept and have featured a few times. They were kind of there last year in the form of Long Fling (a great set in the Tipi). I could see them being a secret set in the Tipi again. I don’t remember the Bollox new name for the Tipi and never will.

It should forever be the Tipi.

Just as the news about Geese was shared on Twitter.

Personal Trainer played last year too!

I have visions of Garden Stage being rammed for AdP to the same level as Fleet Foxes dimensions

(for those of you who weren't there it was the last no-Woods stage festival and the Garden Stage was "closed" rammed)

Mac has confirmed for Friday on his site.

He's still got the whole festival period on his tour dates list. The 4th is given as the Mac's Record Label showcase, which was separately announced for that date (obviously it's unlikely Mac would be on a different date to his own project)

They'll surely put AdP on Woods. They are aware of the off the scale level of hype.

I had AdP third down on Woods but Lucinda Williams pulling out and her de facto replacement playing a different day mixed things up, coupled with Ty Segall playing Garden solo last year.

AdP are just a novelty act and as such should barely be headlining The Folly let alone Garden or Woods.

Discuss...

If a band has enormous demand you don't put it on a stage too small to contain the people that want to see them, it simply boils down to that!

Personal preference is irrelevant. With that level of hype, the only slot that makes sense crowd management-wise is Woods headline.

They were shifted late on just before The Great Escape from Thurs to Weds. A bunch of people on day tickets missed out, but even factoring that in TGE still had to close off their big tent with PLENTY of time before the set starting.

That kind of music doesn't translate well for me for spaces bigger than the Tipi but that's just my own preference.

It's been pointed out to me that Just Mustard have issued a new graphic with all their summer dates including the Saturday of EOTR, where I had them down for Friday. I can see AdP subbing or third down Woods in that case, but then (and remembering we lost one potential name in Lucinda Williams) that leaves a gap for a good Garden headliner...

2 really good albums IMO. Fun, really good musicians, energetic, can dance to it.

I'd take that over the couple of dozen twee ernest singer songwriter 2 chord dross acts on the bill most years.

    • Electric Callboy just said they'll be touring here next year. I'm not sure there's a poster for it though. I'll look when I'm near some next.      He said we'll see you at Download at a gig before any of the band. Presumably he was trolling. They're in Austria at the moment and Germany tomorrow with a week's break and more shows in Germany. Whilst not impossible to come back here and then go over there again, it seems unlikely.
    • Thomas Partey, knocked back by Canadian immigration now.
    • I'm sure someone can update you on the clashfinder, and it will be pretty accurate by the time the festival comes around. It's a large flat-ish arena with main stage in the open air, no best side I'd say. Leadmill (3rd stage medium tent) is at the back of the main arena, T'Other (2nd stage big tent) 5 min walk round the corner. At full capacity walking around can take a bit more time though. I noticed that The Enemy are scheduled to not fully overlap with Wolf Alice, so you could catch part of their set too.   You can walk around anywhere with a beer, with most bars the usual mass market stuff, but one nice craft ale tent, back of the arena near the Leadmill stage. A main meal will set you back £10-15, but cheaper snacks also available. Expect a pint to be £7-8. Possibly a bit more this year as prices everywhere are increasing.   It's fairly easy to get to from the town centre using the tram, although can be busy at peak times / very busy at curfew. If you like a walk, it's approx 40 mins to Kelham Island (lots of indy venues) and probably an hour to the city, or catch an Uber. There will be loads of 'fringe' music events on around the city right through the weekend. Most are free. Have a wonderful trip, enjoy the festival, and your stay in our city!
    • I think people on a place like this, that clearly value live music more than most, don't. I'd rather an academy than an arena every day. But I could see a few people that care about "the gram" than the actual music wanting an arena experience even if it's a mid sized band.
    • The single worst shout for any slot on any stage in the history of efests. Worse even than the Wursels or The Wombles.    Unlikely I’d be there, but okay with the other two. Boy George is a class act, plus he could DJ in Block 9
