I thought Lorde's surprise set at Glasto with all the new album tracks was pretty dull, Primavera would be better off skipping her.

And there was be thinking it was the highlight of the festival. It's my album of the year and I thought it was a privilege to get to be the first people in the world to hear those songs live. The sort of thing that makes Glastonbury great imo

Also worth noting that if that wasn't for you, the Primavera set won't be like that (obviously). Will be wall to wall bangers. She'd be a great option imo.

If we get two of Radiohead/The Cure/Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds/The xx/Lorde then I'll be very happy. You know the undercard will always be decent at Primavera, it's just the headliners which have the potential to be iffy (in recent times)

Glad you liked it better than I did.

I did see Lorde in 2022 and that was a fine set. But she's currently playing all of the new album tracks in full on her current arena tour. Obviously a festival set may vary, but no guarantee it will be wall to wall bangers.

You could say that for so many acts. Sabrina Carpenter, Lana Del Rei, Kendrick Lamar, Rosalia...

Actually Radiohead is the last act on these lists to prioritise money. Over the years, they have often chosen smaller venues - Roundhouse in 2016 for example. And on this latest mini-tour, they could have chosen dynamic pricing to make much more.

Still think this year is different though. They’re suddenly massive. But here’s hoping.

Lorde hasn't released an album that wow'd the world since Melodrama. Her debut had the mainstream hits but she is clearly an artist in decline already.

Such is the case for many acts.

Her arena tour has sold very well. So her being booked would go down well.

A bit bored of the Radiohead speculation now. They are doing gigs and said that it is it for now. There doesn't seem to be any new material. Their attitude over Israel/Gaza still makes me uneasy and Thom has famously said that he doesn't give a flying f*** about what people might want them to do.

Meanwhile what are the chances of Karol G headlining and selling out the Saturday now she is signed up for Coachella?

One can never be bored of Radiohead speculation😉 Not sure who Karol G is though.

What a complex picture you paint.

Sounds like even more to speculate on here!

I have seen Lorde 3 or 4 times. In my opinion, her Melodrama sets were much better than those for Solar Power (including the Primavera show, I was there as well). As her new album is much more similar to Melodrama sonically, I would expect it to be brilliant, as she is a really charismatic performer and those uptempo songs are more up in her alley. And I am saying that even though Virgin is not my favorite album.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
