Not when they wind up closing the other stage as it'd filled up by a massive crowd bigger than the main stage.

I think you're underestimating how big a crowd Swift would get - maybe not quite McCartney / Elton size but definitely not half empty fields like this years headliners. Definitely one of the younger 'proper headliners' available. Madonna would be a proper headliner too. Kate Bush would bring in multiple generations. Eric Clapton or Neil Diamond are options (possibly Legend slot for Neil). Dire Straits are an option. Cher another option.

All of those would pull in bigger crowds than Olivia Rodrigo (who had the biggest of the 3 very small for a headliner crowds this year.)

We want a higher calibre of headliner - the crowd issues come with that yes but the pyramid field is massive it can handle it.

Don't think anyone's disputing that Swift or Madonna are solid options, if available. Kate Bush won't do it. Cher and Neil Diamond are definitely legends rather than headliner. Not sure Eric Clapton would have cross generational appeal. Dire Straits aren't likely to tour together again, so not in fact an option.

Madonna would be gold but you kind of think if she was going to do it she would have done by now so maybe not one previously considered by the Eavis's. I think Cher's song choices would decide between her as headliner or legend slot, she could headline. Neil Diamond's already done the legends slot and they don't repeat legends. Didn't realise that about Dire Straits. Eric Clapton would probably draw a similar crowd size to Neil Young on reflection probably not a proper headliner.

I'm certain she'll have been previously considered. More than once. There's plenty evidence to suggest that Emily is fan.

But the festival can only book acts that are actually willing to do it, which may not have been the case in the past especially if they're on a lucrative tour of their own, are inactive, or just feel it doesn't fit creatively.

Harry Styles will be doing it. He was here this year in part to have "the conversation" with Emily. It makes sense career-wise for him to do it in 27 with a new album out next year and a subsequent tour.

He will pack the field and it'll be a great show and no one will complain.

Hopefully not but in that case I could see him with Fender in 28. Be funny as well after Noel saying people like Harry Style are told do this, do that and just up lol. To be honest I could just as easily see Fender along with Foos and said female in 28. Fender would have so finish up this year only take 26 out and return 27.

Is this just speculation or info? Never saw anything about him being on site this year.

Just google Harry Styles Glastonbury. I'm not linking the article as I find this level of press intrusion on celebrities personal lives wrong on so many levels but there's plenty of articles about his attendance at this year's festival.

You'd think so but after Elton John said he'd never been asked until his farewell gig you wonder who else the team haven't asked at times.

I think it's plausible that both Elton is being truthful and that he (or more specifically - his team) had been approached prior to the 2023 festival.

There's a whole load of grey area between "no contact" and "officially asked", and aside from that there's the whole question of whether his people deemed that conversation even worth taking to him.

far too optimistic but the stuff of dreams if they pulled it off.

Indeed, if Glastonbury pulled that off in one year then those promoters aren't paying them all the packets to perform otherwise. A lot of this these days with how much the tickets are etc will be planning is so they've still got interest after 200k have seen them already or had the chance to.

    • My understanding is that the queues returning back to the UK will be much worse (up to two hours) but the queue entering Lisbon isn’t so bad. That’s just from reading a few forum posts about it though so take it with a pinch of salt!

    • World Cup 2026: What is happening with ticket prices? - BBC Sport   Sounds like Infantino has been learning from his buddy if he's running around claiming its all sold out while quietly dumping tickets below face on assorted secondary websites.
    • Mac DeMarco also cancelled
    • I'm British so it very much would apply for me.   I mean, it's a moot point as I don't have tickets so will not be in town for this, but I've heard reports of lengthy queues and given I remember Lisbon Airport having a long queue at arrivals even pre-EES when I went in 2023, I seem to guess it might be quite the wait, depending on flight paths.   Certainly, the worst I've had pre-EES was a 45 minute wait for a stamp at Valencia Airport in Spain, where 4 flights to non-EU destinations in quick succession were placed one after the other. So I can't say I'm enthusiastic about what's in store. Or you know. Maybe I'm just overthinking it.
