It’s very well organised, isn’t it? I’m not used to this level of competence.

Just arrived a few hours ago, absolute dream getting set up, no issues with the heat at all. Free train ticket and bus transfer right to site. Picked up a cold pack of beers. Bliss.

Did you pick up the beers local to the festival site or in town?

We pre-ordered some from the festival. Will probably do a run to Leuven in the morning though.

Second to none in that regard. One of the reasons why it has become our festival of choice for so many years.

Will get on the road in the morning, I hope we won’t find too much traffic. Have a great time everyone!

Great first day, highlight probably Iggy Pop in an absolutely packed Barn. Went in after London Grammar and got a spot in the raised seating section on the front left. Amyl and Fontaines also both brilliant. Roll on today! PXL_20250703_203013908.thumb.jpg.5a850e95baeea2f92fdd738077e91580.jpg

Got lucky and bagged a ticket for yesterday on ticketswap ! Great day and what a trio of heads to finish it off. Happy to have seen LP again, 8 years after them convincing me to buy my first Werchter ticket. Deftones was a bucketlist band of mine so happy to have seen them finally. Also really enjoyed Amyl and The Sniffers, they were much better than last time I saw them.

A bit weird not going back to the hive and going home after the end, this was my 6th edition but the first one without a combi and even though I don't really regret going for all 4 days, I felt nostalgic passing by CNTRL PARK.

@everyone in here, enjoy the rest of your festival !

Sam Fender cancels! Nothing But Thieves added and Yungblud moved up to headliner.

Lol, seriously? Losing two headliners for one day gotta be a record. Would be surprised if Sam Fender will ever be booked again

That's unbelievably shocking. He probably wasn't going to get the biggest crowd and the weakest by far of any headliners but they've had an absolute mare there. To announce Fender firstly to headline, to announce KOL to co-headline, to have KOL pull out and bring Yungblud back to co-headline and play 3 in 4 years, might be 4 in 5 without looking, to then have Fender pulling out 24 hours before and of all bands NBT added to the bill. Thats actually horrendous and turned out to be an awful day, and I like two of the people that day. They wont try and booked a day like that again surely. Learn from it and move on. I honestly don't think I've ever seem people trying to move tickets on for a festival as much as Wechter this year though, Download wasnt even that bad.

Sicknote Springsteen at it again…

My dad was at Silverstone last night, sent me a video and it sounded fine but I suppose you don’t know what goes on behind closed doors.

Gutted for anyone going, Yungblud and Nothing But Thieves is a crazy headline duo for a festival of Werchter’s ilk (but, stranger things have happened, could be a huge launch pad for either of them and I hope it is) but you have to imagine Fender’s shot at the big time in Europe is gone now. Only time since I started going in 2014 that I can remember the Saturday not selling out, and he’s left a few big fests in the lurch, not for the first time but for the first time as a headliner.

It’s been said and it’s a massive shame for them but I really hope Werchter learn from this; you can only take a gamble on a headliner of his size if you book a line up around it to match it and offset the risk. I know all music is subjective but it felt like a very weak day (hence the KoL addition) and now it must be objectively the weakest day in Werchter in the last 10 years?

Anyways, hope everyone there is still

having a fantastic time!

Comfortably. I'm actually more pissed that I'm not there than at Glastonbury but on paper, the other 3 main headliners are doing a hell of a lot of carrying this year. It's a festival of, oh ill give these a go rather than I must watch these contributing to a very weak understand overall with Thursday sign the strongest albeit not for me. At this point I'd say there is only 9/10 acts over the 4 days are I wouldn't miss though actually Green Day as fab as they are I'm not sure I need to see quite so soon over Download. Thats what made it different thing year as usually Download don't get them so fhe incentive would be there more. Next year either no Glastonbury will be telling.

Enjoy the rest people.

I even feel bad for Werchter bookers now...

But for myself, I already had the time of my life on the first two days. I don't care that much anymore for the next two (and I'm sure there will be some good surprises)

That said, a real shame for the Fender fans and saturday ticket only

Why do you feel bad for them?, he was a poor booking for the slot from the off that was never big enough to do it hence the lack of sales on a very weak day for the festival. As said by someone else, they haven't failed to sell the Saturday out for a long long time. The festival chose to cop out on the easiest selling day.

I'm having a bit of deja vu, because Yungblud also replaced Sam Fender at Isle of Wight back in 2019 when he pulled out at the last moment. Yungblud was fantastic in that venue (the Big Top tent), but when I've seen him at bigger festivals since then he's struggled a bit to maintain his charisma. It feels like he tries to turn his already exaggerated stage persona up a few notches for the big stage, and it can come off as a little grating. Still, he's got some great tunes on his new album, so hopefully he's able to deliver a memorable set for the Werchter crowd.

    • Another note, if I didn't mention the food in the arena for main stage is right at the back. Bands wise they do very well for but as a festival so far they pros are outweighed quite heavily currently for me.
    • On another note for RIP as an event, there is some good things but there are so many things people going to UK festivals would hate and how far behind they are.  Consistent network and water, beer and pretzel like food is brought around to buy in the crowds. Topping up on the wristband is good. The camping and food arrangement is not good, you really need cooking kit. Water points inside the arena are bonkers, water points in camping are a faff unless you are close enough in general camp. Merch stands are crazy. You MASSIVELY need to think about your lidl shop for camping and try and do it so you've one stop. It's definitely worth it getting to a camping shop here, picking up a rolley between your mates and stacking it for the walk back....lidl is cheap though, not hard getting in but Thursday queues getting in and into the camping is mad. You have to register first for a wristband as well leaving any bigger bags behind so pull to a side if only two and do it separately. I was joining a WhatsApp group for solo camp so went with the flow but I've learnt. Had it been me or just two my tent would have been down much quicker.  Big final note, I got a fresh and black 3 man from decathlon before coming and put in bigger suitcase with my airbed and sleeping bag...do this. Take a smaller option for your clothes. If you go to Munich first, book your train to Nuremberg as far in advance as you can....very important!....it hikes crazy. Probably bettee overall for baggage sizes to do BA both ways but you do then need to go back to Munich after too. Use the B&B hotel hbf the night before....its very nice, comfortable, cheap and within 10 minutes of the station which also serves as a transport stop 15 minutes from the registration.  Get up literally like 5am with everything back the night before, shower and go. Transport is free anyway for festival ticket holders during the duration.  Would I just choose to travel in each day and back to a hotel?, on the basis of sleep and getting accommodation cheap enough for 3 nights i might just do especially if I picked the ticket up early enough. It doesn't feel like a festival in a normal sense....unless you are in general yoi have to exit on the paths outside the camping to walk down and in which also applies for getting water so have a stock up. Toilets are in the camping.
