  1. Well it depends. It doesn't seem like they have done anything with the capacity, although it's hard to say what they mean by a "brand new Klub-C". Open fronts will help those outside be more engaged in the concert as well as the extra screens, but there were screens outside last year also, so unsure how much that helps. Basically open fronts is an advantage, but if you can't get in, I'm very unsure whether it will help to feel like you're a part of the concert. It is common on other festivals though, so maybe... I've got very few tent-artists I want to see this year, so hopefully there won't be many issues for me. Morello/Snow Patrol will probably be the only one if I decide to see them rather than Sum 41.
  2. That's definitely not solving any of last years issues, so I hope they have something else up their sleves. Would be interesting to know the thinking behind the setup, when it comes to the floe between scenes and creating a maximum audience for their artists as it puzzles me every time. Anyway.. Thursday and Friday filled with clashes, while there a giant holes on Saturday and Sunday. Fingers crossed for cancellations and new interesting bands in 😉
  3. So, the limited extra tickets for Friday. We're the sell out a PR-trick or do they try to squeeze even more sheep into a barn? Will be interesting to see if they have made any adjustments to the tents after last years disaster and bad PR....
  4. That's strange... I was quite sure that the most popular band on Spotify or whatever it was, would be an immediate sell out. Go figure....

  6. Sounds good! The only thing that can save my liver for totally collapsing on Saturday and Sunday, so let's hope it's not stacked on Thursday (and Friday).
  7. Nope, then there needs to be cancellations. That said though, The Slope has for me always had the most interesting bands and the best shows, but they're not very big no.

  9. It has been the same the last years as well. The Slope has a tendency of being announced late.
  10. 2 actually (Peuk and High Vis), but yeah, the Slope has to save this years edition.. As for the major stages, most main spots are taken, but this is what we get for buying tickets too early. The two worst days are sold out, so nothing more to expect there in terms quality at least.
  11. I love NBT and totally agree with you. They're drowning on Main Stage, but I doubt there's any chance of getting them inside unfortunately 😞
  12. Agree, but the reason Sum 41 played early last time, was 100% logistics. Khruangbin subbing before Dua Lipa, must be for those needing to go to sleep before she starts. They are decent, but has nothing to do subbing. As for today's announcement, I'd say there are 4-5 decent addition, but boy those tables turn fast. Right now Saturday and Sunday look terrible and can pretty much only be saved by a magnificent Slope line-up. I would never have thought I'd say the Thursday look best, but it does. A quick count tells me I (at least for now) have 8 acts I stronly consider watching on Thursday, Friday 5, Saturday 2 and Sunday 1(!). The weekend is insanely bad and I don't think I can ever recall having two days looking so bad in January when we're well over halfway. My liver will not like this line-up...
  13. No matter what I feel about her or not, this doesn't say too much. Saturday and Sunday would have sold out anyway as it's the only to whole weekend days. Some would have bought tickets no matter what and even though a part of them naturally have bought the tickets because of the names, it's still only between maybe 10-15k. That's not a very large venue. I'm almost 100% sure that neither Dua Lipa or Måneskin would have sold out Thursday, but on a Saturday, the field for Dua Lipa will probably be full, depending on what the alternatives are (but that alternative is usually queueing outside a closed tent anyway).

  15. Manchester Orchestra playing in UK on the 11th of July. Would be my #1 pick for any band for 2023, so I hope RW are on the ball..
  16. Rateliff cancelled last year, didn't he, so I'm guessing he will be there. I'd take him, Pendulum, GvF and maybe even Limp Bizkit from this one.

I 100% agree and was more trying to show a slight sign of optimism 😉 That said, there has been instances where headliners have been announced after new year, but then it's more related to logistics so I don't think that's the case here. It's not like they have a bunch of huge bands on "stand-by" as some seem to believe, but there might be the slim chance of someone being willing to alter their tour plans if ticket sales are crap. Unfortunately the chance of them putting even more money into their line-up if tickets are selling slow is probably unlikely and we'd probably rather see them cut their losses with undercards being even cheaper. Luckily cheap doesn't necessarily mean bad, but it's far away from what it seems like some people still are expecting in here. There are probably some good names still to come, but I can't really see how that are able to turn this from very weak (probably the weakest in my 12 year history of going), into something that will make it possible for me to add extra people to our group.
  18. Agreed, but unless they have some really big rabbits in their hats, it seems like a strange marketing strategy to announce all co-headliners first. Also, they must surely understand linguistics, so they should be aware that if they announce something as headliner now and it's not for peoples taste (and definitely not corresponding with their ticket prices), people might opt for other alternatives before they announce the big guns. There are so many names touring this year that would neither be too small nor recycled names, that if they had them they would have announced them. Only hope left now is for them to line up a serious amount of good undercards as well as some major and unique headliners that haven't announced their tours yet. For me that must be in the Paul McCartney, RATM category for it to be worth it.
  19. RW is in full decline and although there could be names in the pipeline changing this, the fall was much steeper than I anticipated. I don't have anything against LK, but neither Lenny Kravitz nor Måneskin are headliners. For me not even co-headliners at a major festival like this, although I understand some people might disagree with regards to Måneskin's current popularity. Personally I put Dua Lipa in the same category, but she's a big pop artists, so that's more based on taste. I'm amazed if these names will generate a huge ticket sale, so it will be interesting to see what RW does going forward. One thing is for sure, such weak "headliners" will not improve the situation at The Barn/Klub C, because the crowd will be even more diverse.
  20. They should't expect anything else at least. Especially after their last tour and meltdowns.
  21. The closest ones to headline alone are maybe Billie Eilish, Drake and Kendrick, but the latter one was planned during Covid and had the weakest selling day. A few of them are over 40, like KoL and Beyonce and most are third ones down at the most. That doesn't mean that a festival won't try to pull something, but they should not be considered to headline anything at a festival of RW's size in a normal year (which might have to be a past-tense soon).
  22. I don't think there are any. The days of those giants are gone. If anyone can come up with a band that will continue to sell out stadiums (60k+) years years after their first one, I will be amazed. Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift as solo artists will probably be the closest ones. Måneskin will not be one and neither will BMTH. That's why I think the major festivals need to change their model if they want to attract the same amount of people going forward. Glastonbury might last a little longer as the UK has quite a few bands that will sell out locally but not worldwide anymore (like Blur) but the others that need an international crowd to succeed, will struggle. As for big ones "missing", I think there are enough to go around still, that haven't been there for a while (doesn't mean I want to see them, but they are still big). Green Day, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springsteen, Coldplay, U2, Guns N' Roses, Depeche Mode++. I don't buy this, too big for festivals-thing. It's all about the money, and it must be more difficult to build a day on a rock festival around Dua Lipa rather than Coldplay or Springsteen. My gut feel, is that more festivals will do like Glastonbury and dedicate one headliner to the more nostalgic audience, typically a Sunday or Thursday that won't sell out that easily. In that case you will have a long list of still active bands and artist that can live on the back catalogue (Elton John, Madonna, Bon Jovi, Aerosmith, Rolling Stones, Queen+++). Locally the festivals generating most money are that ones that targets the young or the older audience individually. The divide between the younger and older audience will probably just continue to grow, which is natural as it has been like this always, but for festivals of this size that will become an issue. Historically it has been easier to cater for all by using more known bands that everyone knows, rather than hoping that the older audience will start enjoying the newer music. If that still works in the future will remain to see, but this years RW line-up will probably give us some hints...

  24. Me and my pillow are still trying to process this, but are still unable too. I've said a long time that festivals this size will slowly die, expecting smaller and more genre based festivals taking over within the next 10 year period, but now it seems it might be happening quicker than I anticipated. Not just because of Dua Lipa/Måneskin, but a previous poster had a good point in stating that the lack of headliners means promoter needs to spread them out more, making most festivals weaker and it harder to find a stellar line up. That will again slowly kill the bigger and most expensive ones as people lose their trust in them coming up with great line-ups. RW has probably done a smart thing, putting them in on Friday/Saturday which will probably sell out anyway, but I will be really eager to see the amount of people turning up for these concerts. I don't mind fresher acts to take over, if they manage to pack the field and sell out, good on them, but I'm amazed if these will. It would have been interesting to see a Thursday based on Måneskin headlining. I've always said that I don't care much about the headliners and I still don't, as it means I can head home earlier, but they are still the ones inflating the ticket cost. So if the undercards becomes the main event, there will be many opportunities to see them at other festivals at a much lower price. Anyway, I'm in my grumpy mid 40's, so even though I see myself with many years of festival life still left in me, maybe I'm not in RW's target audience anymore. In that case it will be interesting to see the revenue flow on those festivals when the crowd becomes much younger. That has at least killed a few festivals in my home country as they don't spend as much on-site. I guess the next headliner and the first undercards will show. If there's one thing we know it is that the wind has a tendency to change it's direction quickly 😉
