Jesus if I had the time off and eurostar wasn't so expensive now, the amount of tickets being flogged for this is crazy. Notification after Notification of weekend tickets every everything. Hive tickets appearing loads too.

I guess that's the cost of leaving it last minute. Mine cost about 45 euros each way

Oh mine would have too. £60 return at the time but I'd just started a new job after a long time off so it wasn't feasible anyway. If it was it would have been booked long before now. Just a lot of people deciding it's a no.

Sorry to derail the conversation, just wanted to pop up to say they really screwed up that Saturday by losing Franz Ferdinand. Saw them last night and they're as sleek and showbiz as ever; would have been the perfect sort of festival band they're missing from that day with an hour of big tunes that would have got the crowd going

The list of f-off's this year is so long that one could write a book, but that's definitely a major one. Just waiting for the weather gods to penalize them/us as well.

Oh yeah they've always been a real crowd pleaser, even with the various changes in band members. They were good in 2018, gutted they arent there again I do wonder what happened

Can anyone that’s been before tell me if it’s worth getting breakfast at the Cafe de Welkom in the Hive?

Personally I wouldn’t pay the price but can’t comment on the quality of it.

We’re just planning to take some bite to snack on in the morning and then buy something more substantial on the walk down onto the site

All good. I have to say Franz missing don't bother me in the lineup.

My wife thought it was good - I was too hungover in the tent to bother getting up that early 😂 It is also a good shout to grab food up a bit on the walk way to the festival from the stands lining the road rather than get a main meal s from the arena onsite - we usually get some noodles and meat from the place not too far from the entrance and sit in the pallet seats with a beer or two to get us set up for the afternoon - think it's about €10 - you pay by card/cash not coin out there. Inside we get the odd chips and sauce and maybe a burger, with the coin saved going to the much nicer/stronger-than-jupiler beer in an actual glass from the bar by The Walls. Have a great time!

If you mean the ticketed breakfast, it's convenient for us, cuz we don't take any food, and don't have to go hunting for brekkie. You get a baked scrambled eggs and bacon mix (spek en ei), a roll, a yoghurt, 2 pastries, with orange juice or coffee. Think we paid about 50 euros for it ahead of time, but missed the first day cuz our coach didn't get in till midday.

Yeah, I highly recommend everyone get a beer at a beer bar by The Walls. Jupiler is literally piss water (you can't change my mind 😄

I would oppose.. The queues there are long enough already, so please enjoy your Jupiler in the other end of the festival area 😜 Must say though, that Jupiler is not by far the worst of the "mainstream beers", but it doesn't beat a Tripel Karmeliet..

Can anybody recommend a good place to eat in the city around the Festival?

If you are talking about Werchter itself, it’s not a city but a small town with very limited options in terms of food/drinks (those 2-3 that you see on gmaps and that’s it). The road leading to the festival though is full of food tracks with many different options. My favorite is the chicken & ribs place right next to the festival entrance on the left side. Although we go there every year, I don’t remember the name but it’s with a yellow sign and a small yard with tables. Highly recommended!

    • Tell me more. Last Latitude we went to was '21 - my son was young & had a wagon so we snuck good beers in that way. I remember there being some Brooklyn IPA on sale which was tolerable - are you saying they don't sell anything other than Carlsberg now?! 😳
    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
