Mate im talking about my experiences, not anyone else's. As we've discussed before I love long festivals, hot weather and music thrown in.

We all go to festivals for different reasons, lineups is not my first consideration.

Maybe, but you stated it as in a given thing with European festivals over  English one. I've been to 3 Glastonburys in a row with barely any rain to worry about so the good times go around.

I like the hot weather but almost anyone on here would agree for example that Glastonbury 2010 for an example was mega hot, Wednesday arriving last year in fact was mad. Download in 23 was too so it happens.

Yes i get that, im not saying it rains all the time. I can buy a ticket in confidence for Sziget that im going to get glorious weather, with a glorious experience due to the weather. Whilst I can buy a ticket for a UK festival, praying that its going to be dry. Checking weather apps 24/7.

Thats the difference.

Not an argument worth having to be honest, just suits my needs what I want in a festival. I think I have done 1 camping uk festival since 2008, 1st reading post covid.

Crowd is the biggest difference, you will find it so much more chilled. Also nice bands not finishing at 11pm like the UK fests.

Yeah I have heard that actually.  Having experienced plenty of idiots in the U.K. I’m happy enough with that.

I really should start preparing, not long to go

What's more likely to be Saturday at 2pm ? Tom Odell, something else or nothing ?

Doesn't Glastonbury also have a secret spot? maybe something to keep an eye on, or perhaps I'm being too wishful in the fact that there's still a sliver of a chance we could get a good act

Already a great act at that time… Bright Eyes.

Just realised as well that with Yungblud doing 1.5 hours as well he's basically co-headlining with Sam Fender so it can barely be called a sub.

Even worse... Only positive is if we then can avoid him getting a similar position next year, but knowing the recycling organization, they've probably already created the release statement raving about his amazing "emergency performance" this year.

I like him so it wouldn't be me too much but not as a co-headliner. Had he have been there before KOL that Saturday is saved a bit. Currently it's horrifically bad, worse than Sunday even. I probably have 11 acts over the whole weekend when I think about it that I'm really bothered with which is quite pitiful but I guess that's why I'm not going. I do want hear the emptyness machine live though, by far and away the best newer LP song. As much as Weezer and Green Day is good, I'm already seeing them next Friday and that's all there is that day.

I don't have a problem with Yungblud himself, and quite liked him when he came out "fresh", but it's still recycled and he's not sub/headliner material in my world. That has become an even bigger problem with Werchter in general recent years, that they not only recycle headliners (which is kinda unavoidable), but also the medium and smaller bands. They continue to book the same bands (and it doesn't even matter if I like them or not), while others constantly gets skipped.

I have 7 bands that I'm pretty sure I will watch, but 5 of those I've seen before so there is no urgency in it. Three of them again are headliners, which I normally don't care too much about unless there is someone that I haven't seen (at least in a while) or that has relased new (good) material. What Werchter always have been good at, until recent years, is the undercards and the fact that there are a nice spread of genres throughout the day. This year I feel that for a large part, that I can hardly tell the undercards apart, and most of the interesting ones are stacked on Thursday & Friday. The road into more genre days might be a chosen one, but it makes it much less interesting to travel internationally to attend the festival for 4 days. It's not the cheapest one, and now I'd say it's probably not the best one anymore either.

If it hadn't been for us kinda being the "glue" in the group we're travelling with, and the ones all of them knows (and the ones that has dragged them along and recommended the festival as well), I would have cancelled this year. It's not worth a week of credit to the babysitter account and the money it costs. We'll probably still have fun and hopefully the weather is nice, so we can enjoy beers in the sun, but so is possible many other places at a fraction of the price (and probably with better music).

This year has them recycling Yungblud already, since he played last year too. So that would be 3 times in a row. Even for RW that would be too much.

Nah, not sure, although I surely hope so. However next year's contract could already be in place, so I wouldn't be surprised if they ended up spinning it that way.

He literally played 4 out of the last 5 (!) editions (19,22,24,25). So my guess is it'll probably be Pukkelpop again, a festival that suits him very well.

So, my current plan is this:

Thursday: Julia Wolf > Corella > Amyl & the sniffers > De La Soul > English Teacher > 30 mins of Fontaines > London Grammar > Deftones > Linkin Park

Friday: Pvris > Sylvie Kreusch > Jasmine 4t > The Backseat Lovers > Weezer > Girl in Red > Caribou > Underworld > Green Day

Saturday: Bright Eyes > MRCY > Amenra > Peter Cat Recording Co > Beth Gibbons > Elbow > Wisp > Sam Fender

Sunday: Emmy D’Arc > Wunderhorse > Foster the People > Goose > Gracie Abrams > Overmono > Rufus Du Sol > Olivia Rodrigo > 2 Many DJs.

That (plus friends, sunshine and some drinks) looks like an incredible weekend of music to me. I cannot wait.

I'm happy for you that you have a lot to your lokings. If I'm being extremely positive and includes the maybe's, then it will look like this...

Thursday: Mother Mother -> Corella -> Amyl & The Sniffers -> Lambrini Girls -> De La Soul -> Fontaines DC -> Coheed & Cambria -> Linkin Park

Friday: Pvris -> Sylvie Kreusch -> Wet Leg -> Bad Nerves -> Weezer -> Arsenal/Joey Valence -> Simple Minds -> Fat Dog -> Green Day

Saturday: Bright Eyes -> Damiano David -> Sam Fender

Sunday: Dasha -> Emmy D'Arc -> Allie X -> Somebody's Child -> Sawyer Hill -> 2 Many DJ's

With half of them being there due to lack of alternatives, there is gonna be a whole lot of drinking (especially on Saturday).

To be honest, i totally understand the frustration with repeat bookings. It just seems lazy and taking the customers for granted.

Part of the reason I’m attending RW for the first time was that UK festival lineups were getting a bit samey.

If you’ve already seen the majority of these acts before at RW, it’s disappointing - to say the least.

Saturday is the best day for me...

Jazz Brak - Bright Eyes - Mrcy - Amenra - Faye Webster - Beth Gibbons - Raye - Elbow - Cymande - Wisp - Sam Fender is an excellent day in my book. Highlights in bold.

Even sadder Turnstile isn't at RW25 now there album is out.

Hope they'll be next year alongside Scowl and Mannequin Pussy who dropped huge albums recently too.

100% agree. Turnstile would have been a perfect act to add a bit of balance to the main stage on Saturday or Sunday.

Mine would be.

Julia Wolf, Corella, Amyl, Iggy Pop, LP. I'd catch one song from Fontaines.

The Scratch, Weezer, Green Day

Raye, Yungblud

Dasha, Emmy D'Arc, Wunderhorse, Olivia

In reality I don't need Friday at all with Download.

    • Will that work for arenas with seats? People will have their tickets on their phones and needs to find their seat.
    • Excellent new release from overpass today - well worth checking out.
    • Having lived here for 2 and a half years now my take is that security, safety and organisation are just not a priority in Spain. It's not even exclusive to festivals. It's a part of everything.   Simple example. I'm Irish and in Ireland if you assemble a construction site you have to adhere to a lot of regulations about cordoning off the site so nobody can enter and get injured. Here, you're walking down the foot path and suddenly without any warning you're in a construction site. If not, you'll suddenly find yourself directed onto the road to get around the construction.   Life is more laid back here in general. Pros and cons.
