2025 Headliners

On the latest episode of the Sidetracked podcast, Nick Grimshaw says he was told last year the headliners are The 1975 on the Friday, Neil Young on the Saturday and Stevie Wonder the Sunday. He said he took it with a pinch of salt at the time but now Neil Young has been announced thinks it could be about right.

Probably depends when he was told - last year could mean any time.

 

Stevie has been rumoured but it's always been in partnership with BST and that doesn't seem to be happening

Yeah 2020 would have been one I'd not have wanted to miss and I had tickets more than the 2022 return which was nowhere near as good as I think it's hyped. Don't get me wrong I'd have liked to be there but there was only a couple of acts that were like this was your chance.

BST is the payday though - Glasto pay buttons, so probably wouldn't make financial sense to bring his whole band over without also getting that sweet Barclays wedge

It's probably less do with gain and more to do with not losing money on it

Would also seem very unlikely, given she's been expected longer than anyone.. Since well before the last festival.

 

Worth remembering that BBC presenters don't always have the scoop, and can hear / believe gossip just as much as anyone.

Thought the the 2022 line up was mega BUT that 50th anniversary 2020 line up was incredible.

Think we did originally have info a while back that O-Rod was the Friday.

I probably had about 13 vs 8 in favour of 2020. Taylor was the big one though that made it.

Possibly. Though Young along with Chic could prove very effective at keeping the oldies/locals on site.

I think it's possible to craft a "perfect Glastonbury" out of any of the lineups because of the vast choice. But I think it's much more difficult than it looks.

Lolz at the idea of Glastonbury scheduling according to who someone's drummer is, mental. Interesting if Young is Saturday as that could suggest trying to keep folk on site on Sunday in a bid to stop the big Sunday exodus becoming a Thing.

beating traffic is a bad thing or trying to keep people on site so they spend money and make the aerial drone shots look pretty for the tv viewers.....

Ridiculous, it's not about the money of people buying over priced food for a couple more hours, and If everyone leaves to beat traffic... Then that's just traffic at a different time.

 

I think the main thing though is the reputational damage for the festival - could lead to making it harder to book headliners who don't want to be embarrassed by a half empty crowd on a Sunday 

 

Also it sucks for those at home who missed out to watch people not making the most of the entire weekend, but that's just a personal grievance

The Sunday thing was a complete one off though and no disrespect but it was entirely due to SZA. One of the worst bookings the fest has ever done imo.

By Sunday I am usually very much done, 5 days are long time for a light weight. I think that might be the case for a few others too. They need some decent headliners on the last night to keep people there, for me Olivia Rodrigo is not it.

Would it have therefore fit better to have put Dua Lipa or Coldplay as the Sunday headliner?
