Reckon Amyl aren't headlining a stage.  Probably a teatime Other option or Woodsies sub or something.

Agree - they would be a small park headliner and quite random.

No - but it was prior to the quadruple-whammy of his Autobiography, the Rocket Man film, his emergence as a chart contender and the announcement of the farewell tour.

About the time his only gigs seemed to be in odd rural football stadiums.

As ever, impressed by your insight.  Very fair points.  I read the autobiography last year, good laugh.  And yes - I saw him in Falkirk Stadium in 2014, which was a bit random I admit, it seems to be a strategy I don't understand (the Killers copied it recently?) 🙂

The rest of the site was like a ghost town from long before the Elton set, at least S of the Railway track, presumably elsewhere as well. It was a great illustration of how the demographic has changed. Anyway good on your mate, he made the right move

Funny you should say ghost town, because he said he wandered to a stage where Neville Staple was playing and apparently there was barely anyone watching.

Except expectation is he'll be on on the Saturday and his cowd will be fine.

Personally I hope he's on the Sunday.

While he is a legend he's not got much under 40 appeal and the Pyramid headliner on Saturday usually caters for someone that transcends all ages. Or maybe that's my take on it.

The festival put Idles and Fontaines on at the same time last year

I still can't get my head around that decision, not least that Idles got the bigger slot.  Maybe it's just my own perception and bias, but I thought that Fontaines were the bigger draw.

It's less consistent than you might think.  Only two years since GnR did the Saturday.

Not then, but a lot has changed. Fontaines have gone stratospheric.

I'd argue Fontaines were bigger at the time even.

Also not sure this Charli friday info is right...

I'd say the scales tipped very soon after booking, but IDLES had a bigger crowd. I was at both, by the way...

Sure - I understand that there's info for both nights.

I just don't think the fact she's married to the 1975's drummer means they can't clash.  If anything it could make a clash more likely.

Yeah.  I enjoy both acts, and it felt to me like Fontaines had more momentum at the time of the festival.  We had a few songs from the upcoming album that illustrated that they were a band still very much on the up, their earlier albums all having done well.

As for Charli and her fella playing the same night, I'm with Calgon on that one.

I'm still SO skeptical about the Loyle Carner headlining Other info. Obviously there's the fact he'd be a very small headliner for the stage, but I can't get past the fact he isn't touring this year. I know Little Simz did it, but....

A big gig at Glastonbury is exactly the kind of show someone like Loyle Carner would do as a one-off.

Very true - although I can't help but wonder whether they'd book him as their first choice. He seems like a tap-in to book if someone pulls out/no one that size is available

There are some artists that just seem to get promoted up the ranks on a semi-regular basis. Stormzy, Simz, Fontaines, Carner.

Probably folk like Dizzee Rascal and Florence also were back in the day.

I think to some extent the central location of IDLES may have helped them perhaps. Impossible to argue it though so no point bothering 😄

She makes far more sense against Neil Young than The 1975!

Also why on earth does it make it more likely 😂 you got inside gossip they are having spat at the moment?

I did a little back track to try and find the original "info' this is what I came up with - i have not been on these forums long enough to know if BSR is one of the  people in the know or not

This is off discord

Brave Sir Robin (BSR) is an excellent source who's given great info for a good few years, mostly on BST but also glasto + elsewhere

The Dua Lipa Strategy - both work the Friday night and then party together the rest of the weekend,
