As usual I've not been keeping up with this thread so sorry if this has already been posted.

Re

The answer to the question you have is 15,20,1,20,14,5,22,14,9

Where A=1, 2=B, 3=C etc

O,T,A,T,N,E,V,N,I

It is an anagram of INNOVATE  with a bonus T ?

See, it's convincing Rihanna on the legacy aspect. She's no history with the festival and I'd argue that to some performers, Glastonbury won't feel like their kettle of fish.

A big one if she agrees, absolutely.

She’s mates with Beyoncé and Jay-Z IIRC, they both really enjoyed it

I’m just a day ahead of you Poirot but we think it’s inventato backwards which in Italian means “made up story”.  Same conclusion though.

the biggest red flag about The Post is that they called Sza a mistake.  The glasto team is too positive to ever use that word or one like it.  They'd say "premature" at most, but would stand behind it.

They would in public but this isn’t a public statement, I’m sure they admit to mistakes in private

See I feel like Glastonbury has over the last 15 years or so has become, a bucket list once and done festival headline performance for lots of big or mega artists. I think a lot of artists want to do it for the prestige of having done it and because it is the iconic festival worldwide along with Woodstock, which obviously doesn't exist now and is unlikely to happen again. Coachella is probably its closest rival, but with it being more corporate and less alternative without a stage as iconic as the Pyramid it isn't seen as being a big. Think the fetishisation of British people in the US and bits of Canada helps with it's standing too.

Agreed. For example I don't see Dua Lipa at Glastonbury again anytime soon if ever. I also think the festival has changed and gone in a direction that many of who headlined it years ago wouldn't see it for them now. Little bit like how us as ticket buyers then question that now but we don't need to perform there for little money.

I agree, they’ve done a really good job of widening the net of possible headliners. They’ve got themselves in a great position where they’re able to attract artists they normally wouldn’t be able to afford, even if it is just a one off. If it wasn’t for that they’d have been stuck in an endless loop of dull repeat headliners. Imagine the 2007 Pyramid but forever….

Another West Holts crush incoming!

If we've honestly gone far enough down the sh*t nostalgia route that B*witched cause a crush then I'm officially done. Chucking my lot in with Skip at the "queue here to complain festival isn't as good as it used to be" sign and be damned😂

And speculation not necessarily a headline position. Olivia, Ed and Rihanna is not great though is it.

Nah it wouldn't cause a crush, not even sure it's a west holts booking

"Meanwhile, rumours that Oasis might fill the Legends spot were quashed when the band insisted that was not the case."

OK.

Sheeran's playing Germany G weekend.

Playing German shows on Glastonbury Sat & Sun and is not doing 3 nights in a row. So yeah, he's out.

I will admit I'm a little surprised he's not announced a UK show given he's in the European region tbf. Would be a surprise if he didn't, and there does look like a gap in his schedule in July where something could go in.

Answer a family debate for me: would they book harry styles and would he be interested? I say no way. I dont understand how he fits glastonbury musically or culturally. Its just not the right fit in my opinion.

I think they would and that he'd accept, because if we're seeing the Pyramid headliner as about booking the big name at the right time, and Styles is a big name British pop star who has dabbled in more than just talent show pop judging by his solo repertoire, and is big enough to sell out a lot of Wembley dates, he would appeal.

Whether he has the schedule gap or the desire to do a festival over just earning big dollar doing another dozen stadium dates is a different question. Or indeed if he's actually around touring in 2025.

Agreed.  Only 3 on the bounce is Hamburg at the same venue, and Glasto Friday would need a trip from France - UK - Germany.

Ain't happening imho.

As said, I assume he's doing something in the UK given he seems to be playing everywhere else in Europe and in big stadiums to boot. But for him, we'll just have to keep guessing what that something is.

An easy guess would be BST given that the dates fit neatly with a current gap in the tour, they've not announced anyone yet, they pay big, and the various London stadiums are quite heavily booked already.

Could even see him doing 3 nights there, taking over an entire weekend, as he'd be able to sell it out fairly easily - not something that typically happens at BST, but I don't think there's any philosophical reason behind that.

100% they would book him.

I’d wager he’s a guarantee on the next touring cycle.

I know BST have done pairs before - think Pearl Jam did 2 nights there, as did someone else whose name I can't recall. Three would be unusual.

Are the big stadiums that booked? Wembley is probably now full to capacity but I'd have thought one of the several other stadiums in the city might still have a slot or two yet to be announced.

There is no right or wrong fit for Glastonbury festival. They’ve booked some real shite over the years and not just recently. If I remember correctly Simply Red played in the 80’s

    • It’s probably fairly easy to stay in a hotel but I much prefer the camping set up. It was pretty quiet where we camped but a longer walk to the arena but the weather was nice so not a problem. There’s also a lake you can camp by. Once we got off the tube/train we walked down the main road and turned right (festival site is left) and camped down there.    Do you think? They do have water points inside the arena & where I camped there were toilets, showers & water points super close. I think if you time it right the RiP stage is so easy to get close to the front. Second stage is decent & a like the indoor arena for bands on the 3rd stage. I think all the stages sound better than Downloads too, always had issues with the 2nd stage at Download being too quiet. Even main at some points.
    • Interesting that they’ve mentioned Blink-182 in mail. Btw dates for 2027 are 10-12 June. Same dates as Mystic & Sweden Rock and most likely Download, RFP & Greenfield.
    • Scooter are a meme booking. The Chems aren’t viewed in the same way. They’re a serious electronic act, whereas Scooter has only ever been suggested (and now booked) because ‘LOL look how wacky us metalheads are we love silly music too’.
