2025 Headliners

I quite like them, but Tame Impala headlining Glastonbury?  They/he is nowhere near the stature required.  And TBF their style of music wouldn't convert any neutrals in the crowd, of which there is always many at the Pyramid.  Other Headline tops IMO.

Tame Impala could do it at a push but there's far bigger and more suitable indie acts waiting in the wings e.g. Sam Fender, 1975 - let alone repeats.

Its not exactly an area where they are short on acts for!

Yes, certainly more of a gatekeeper to the headliner slot imo.

Tame Impala are not headlining Glastonbury. Especially if Fred Again is nailed on, imagine the backlash.

I'm thinking it'll be;

Fred Again - Eminem - Olivia Rodrigo

Swap Eminem for an older more iconic act like Stevie Wonder or Bruce Springsteen and it looks good.

Eminem is ruining it. It looks very Reading and Leeds with that trio and no older act anchoring it down.

I know what you mean actually. I wonder whether this'll be a consideration of the festival. Wasn't there a rumour that Eminem had been asked though?

Maybe it's going to be something like Fred Again - Eminem - Stevie Wonder and Olivia is going to play elsewhere (R&L?). Personally hoping for Olivia Rodrigo to be on the lineup.

Stevie still feels like one of the more likely options.

Not really seen much to sway me from it being a Fred / Eminem / Stevie line-up - with Eminem being the least locked in if the word is that he has the offer on his desk but there's no word on whether he'd actually said yes to it.

O-Rod fits for all sorts of reasons but at the moment it's still very circumstantial.

She deserves it on merit alone, but we really need a female act topping the bill. With Gaga seemingly unlikely based on touring plans Olivia deserves the bump. In fact it's probably not even a bump given her size and demand across the Guts tour.

I agree she's absolutely a headliner. She's great.  Just at the moment we have no indication of anything she's up to beyond the South American Lolla gigs in March. The Manc gigs also need to be rescheduled too, but again there's no word on when those may be.

So at the moment there's nothing to link her to it other than her face fits.

Unless that odd AI post the other day was an actual leak of the current state of affairs from within the festival's circle of trust.

sh*t all over Fred

I don't know if you're fishing again but there is no way Tame Impala pulls a larger crowd than Fred.  You can't seriously believe that?

Musically I'd completely agree.  Still not close to being a headliner though.  As much as I think Fred is bang average, he's in the zeitgeist so would fit the bill.

    • We head out in the morning. Couple of nights in New York then up to Boston. Enjoy the games lads and hopefully we get some great football to take our minds off the whole shitshow off the pitch.
    • White Stripes/QotSA at Harewood 2007, Tramlines (and Blue Dot, same weekend) in '23, and Elbow at Jodrell Bank '13.
    • Yeah exactly, the shock moments, group layouts, etc all end up playing out differently once you get into the tournament. However you tweak it, you don't predict shocks.
