Folk coming for the first time or as a one off.......I can understand feeling a bit hard done by.

My wife is getting there for the first time in 10 years and after watching on enviously as Dolly, Lionel, Bazza, Kylie and Diana did her thing she was hoping for a big party. Distinctly disappointed. She knows who he is, plenty of songs etc just not bothered.

FWIW I'd still recommend going.  Won't have the party vibe, but could easily still be a "glad you've seen him".

Understandable to be a bit disappointed but there’ll be loads on offer elsewhere.

If there’s nothing on the main stages we fancy we’ll head to one of the smaller areas and use it as an opportunity to see something different without the crowds.

Indeed. She’s pretty pleased overall as there’s loads she wants to see on the first poster, she really wants to see Blondie, and she’s been before so it remains a mild disappointment at worst.

Yeah we may well do. Depends what’s elsewhere. She’s really happy with the first line up announcement overall and if they put a Maneskin or a Phoenix on the Other at the same time she’ll forget all about any Legend related disappointment.

speaking of Cat Stevens covers - Elton John has covered "Lady D'Arbanville" - I wonder if there's potential for a collaboration in either one of their sets?

For the average Joe not in the know it might be a bit disappointing, but there's Blondie "double bill" thingy, and a whole "one headliner more" than normally to be excited about.

I took the wife to see Cat Stevens at Hammie Apollo a few years ago. She’s a longtime fan, but didn’t know he was playing until we turned up at the venue. I had no interest whatsoever, knew only a few songs (and those I knew I didnt think I liked) and my attendance was purely an act of uxurious devotion. I’d actually bought seated tickets thinking I might have a nap. 

Needless to say it was a great show. I loved it. I’m looking forward to seeing him again.

Is there any stock in the thinking that some of the acts not on the poster but booked, are missing from the poster because they've still got some of their own shows to sell?

that might be correct, i don't think glastonbury really plays that game, with so many acts on the bill, it'd be a nightmare to work around other announcements for every act.

Long time reader but never registered, but had to join to say for the people saying Wild Wood and Father and Son are his go to songs but surely his most famous and greatest song is "the first cut is the deepest" and if you've never heard that then your missing out.
