It’s not being a Debbie downer, just using a fraction of common sense.

Christ what a miserable response

I do believe a lot of people in the forum can’t help but be rude, c**ty etc.

if people can’t have a bit of fun then why be here purposely making yourselves angry at others?

didn’t know Debbie downer would upset someone so much

Ladbroke, Paddy Power etc obviously monitor this site so odds on the Foos will be slashed and Debbie Downer will suddenly be 4 to 1.

I wonder if they just look at the rumour page or dare to venture within the threads 🙂

Wanting a band you clearly like to perform over one you don’t, even though they headlined just two festivals ago. Absolutely hilarious content.

Yes this is a late response but I thought it was January 6 2021 when that shitshow went down, and Jan 6 2020 woulda just been a fairly normal Monday.

I was busy enjoying life in blissful ignorance of the 18 month clusterfuck coming everyone’s way.

Is there a reason why Foo Fighters can't headline instead of GnR??!?!?!!?

They're active!

I thought The National were meant to be on hiatus so interesting to see they're around. Whether that also translates into UK dates given my poor choices meant I missed APE is another matter.

Not sure where the hiatus thing came from. Not heard anything about that. They're gearing up for a new album.

Instead of pissing about they could have just played Stacked Actors.

Will say that at Milton Keynes Bowl in 2011 they did play Stacked Actors but used that as the ground for the longest solos and even a solo battle, to the point where it lasted about 12 minutes. So, they can but can also do it that way.

Even if I don't think it's been played since that tour.

Hmmm - Aaron Dessner said in an NME interview ahead of APE it would be a while before they came back, but maybe that was just referring to the UK rather than the band necessarily stopping for a bit.

Festival lineups across the board really are so so average this year aren't they?

Certainly with regards to headliners. Seems too many festivals are stuck in the past this year. To be fair GFL did well last year, but seem to have lost their bottle this year.

Why not take a chance? Glastonbury will sell out regardless so go for it, have fun, put some interesting acts headlining, don't worry about wether they've sold out a million stadium nights in a row.

If we lose a load of "picnic blanket/camping chair/slabs of cheap lager/bucket listers" so what.

Here's my shout - Kraftwerk headlining the Pyramid.

“Too many festivals are stuck in the past.”

Suggests Kraftwerk to headline.

I set them up, you put them in!

Too obvious though.

Would make a nice change from stale rock, which was what I meant by "stuck in the past"

    • First time for me, really enjoyed it. Nice venue, nice weather, good vibes, etc.   Notes on performances: CMAT's a great performer - seen her live twice now.  GANS are my favourite new act since Big Special, and live they're fantastic. Fellow Brummies too, so I'm all about that. The album's a bit disappointing though. Primal Scream were great, although I felt the crowd seemed a bit muted. The Libertines sounded knackered. Not sure they're suited to a festival. First time seeing The Royston Club, thought they were very good - the tent seemed to be full of kids on each others shoulders singing along. I'm all about that. First time seeing the K's, a bit disappointed. Didn't like his voice, and I felt like every song sounded the same as the last one. Sarajevo is a good tune, though. It still sounds like all the others, just a bit better.  The Maccabees and Two Door Cinema club were a but underwhelming, but Pelican by the Maccabees is a banger. It all sounded a bit Travis/Early Coldplay to me though. The Wombats took me by surprise - I expected 1 1/2 hours of 'Let's Dance to Joy Division' style indie-landfill, so I was surprised to hear that some of the rest of their stuff had dynamics and range. I still don't think they're any good, but I can't say they didn't surprise me either. Just not my thing.   Surprise of the weekend for me was Rizzle Kicks. Never listened to them before, but they got me out of my tent and into the arena as I was trying to nurse a hangover and I thought it was a blast.    Will probably go next year too.
    • Not really anything to say other than the fact I'm down at Opeth and this has been a cracking summer by and large here. Few duds, plenty of sellouts, strong weather, and the craft beer is cheaper than the regular bar. Winner winner, chicken dinner!
    • Pink Floyd night on sky arts time for me  to wallow in nostalgia and remember some incredible gigs
