I'd be very surprised / disappointed if Blur weren't there. Massive missed opportunity.

I would say thinking out loud.

If contracts for headliners have not been signed by the time blur decided to come back, there is a very high chance of them headlining. Especially being in around sziget week, plus no Eastern European date announced as of yet.

Happy new year to everyone ! I hope the second wave in February will satisfy most of us 🙂

Speaking of, as much as I also would be happy with Blur, I have doubts.. Do Sziget would take a headliner that majority of the young people don't know...? If they were active these last years, that would be possible, but they werent.. so ask a 18-20 years old of they know them... 😕

I read that Radiohead are back for 2023, and I think the same : that would be great !, but I'm not sure that is the direction Sziget is taking, sadly...

The Strokes, Panic! at the disco, Green Day, Fall Out Boy, these are my "first thoughts"... After that, Nickelback, Gun's & Roses, RHCP, MCR and Pearl Jam.

I also don't forget that in 2024, this will be the 30th Anniversary of Sziget, they might keep big names for that.. ! I'm telling you lol, Martin Garrix and Macklemore will be there 😂

You could say the same about roskilde, primavera and way out west.

The thing is sziget isn't reading/leeds that the the main audience is 16-20. Sziget is very much like glastonbury with a much varied age group.

In 2023 no festival would survive having both Imagine Dragons and Nickelback as headliners!

Artists very often put the first day of the festival in their tour calendar so you'll have to wait for daily splits which will come with the announcement in February I guess. Foals are most likely sub-headlining on August 10th as they are playing in Slovakia a day later.

If we had to choose, I would like to see Foals under A38 (it'll be madness) and Sam Fender on the main stage

I think The Strokes and Blur still have good chances to be this year at Sziget.

Not sure whats happening with the strokes - they got announced for Cala Mijas and everywhere else they are being held back. meant to be doing APE in London + more probably.

Maybe Cala Mijas accidentally announced them or something

I think the very fact that it would be madness is the reason they won't be in A38! Lol. Agree they'd be great in there but pretty sure they'll sub main stage.

That reminded of how overcrowded Alan Walker in tent last year was.

Foo Fighters are confirmed as headliners for Boston Calling in late May so they're back playing, and playing festivals.

Would be happy with them coming back, but would love to see a Yeah Yeahs Yeahs and Paramore double header like they did with 21 Pilots and Foos in 2019.

That's pretty decent, wouldn't mind those 6 headliners. Plus the national, flaming lips.

Quick question, not related to anything in particular, just on the back of a conversation my family was having last night.

Many of you have attended the festival many more time than myself and just wondered if you have ever seen any of the acts out and about on site? Perhaps watching other acts?

Last year, my daughter and her friend got photos and autographs from Black Honey and Alfie Templeman after their sets but that was at the side of the stage, not on site. Just wondered if acts hung around or just jetted in and then out again.

Not that I really pay attention to that, since when that happens I tend to leave those people alone (all in all, it is their free time...) and most of the time the musicians spend time in the private area, anyway I remember that in 2014 I met Caparezza (biggest italian performer of that edition) at the main stage after Skrillex (although he went to A38 for Miles Kane) and Skrillex himself some minutes later in the back of the Main Stage (he was high as a mountain).

At least in the years 2016-2018, an Italian could have a lot of face-to-face time with minor italian performers playing on the Lightstage.

Probably with the VIP pass nowadays you can get access to some backstages. Honestly I believe it feels like watching animals at the zoo to pay money to force somebody to chat with you for some minutes, but to each their own.

I got a picture with Sigrid, she came down after the concert (I was waving with a hat during the whole concert and basically calling her to come down) and I saw Steve Aoki and Sigrid again going to the "filming thing" that is across the main stage to watch Tame Impala concert.

And I remember that I saw Tove Lo in 2019 after Martin Garrix show, she was also taking a picture with fans (but I noticed her too late to take a picture with her 🥲)

One of my friends took a photo with Palaye Royale guitar player at the bar near Dropyard Stage, another one saw Steve Aoki near the barriers after Tame Impala show.

I've met with Oh Wonder in 2017, they've came out of the backstage area after their show to meet fans.

I also have friends that met with SIgrid last year so she was definitely walking around at the festival.

I know it's a different situation, but someone I know was invited to the backstage area by Florence, since she's been a huge fan of Florence for a long time.

I haven't met no one, but you can see some artists in that sound engineer house next to the main stage, i remember Sigrid was watching Tame Impala concert as Relja said.

Most artists just want to enjoy themself and don't want extra attention.

I spoke to the Nova twins to say that I had watched them for a bit when they were watching the headliners, I think it was the Artic Monkeys.

Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis, but they didn't really wander around, they were watching the show from FOH tower snap seen that and Martin Compston   was watching Fontaines DC at the front but I never noticed him until someone else mentioned it

When was that? This year? I know Timothy Chalamet was there watching Rufus Du Sol this year.

It was 2017 if i remember correctly.
Yeah I do remember someone talking about Timothy now that you’re mentioning it. Kutcher/Kunis case was something similar - they just saw a few acts and disappeared….

    • Totally agree about PinkPantheress stage choice. 'Luckily' for me, one of my main targets, fakemink, was absolutely awful, meaning that I left early and was in a surprisingly good spot at Cupra before it got totally packed.
    • As many said before, not my favourite Primavera. sh*tty weather is something I'm not really used to when enjoying music. Poor communication (more than 1 hour long radio silence during the worst rain) didn't help, but the main problem was me. I decided to leave the venue after things seemed to be getting back to normal. Massive Attack were supposed to play again (with Hymn of the Big Wheel back on the setlist!) as were all other artists on the smaller stages (including Fcukers with one my favourite albums of the year). FOMO was at an all-time high. However, after 4 hours in the rain, I had to admit to myself that I'm not cut out for this. I wasn't even that soaked (water-proof jacket worked). I was just fed up with the rain, wind and cold and wasn't able to enjoy music anymore.   Also, they should stop ignoring the growth of some artists between signing them up and their actual performance. Both PinkPantheress and Ninajirachi sets were ruined for me by completely inadequate stage choice.   However, I felt very much the same way after the 2022 edition and have thoroughly enjoyed all subsequent editions. So I'm still buying early bird tickets for 2027 and hoping this was a hiccup not the start of a downward trend.
    • I will definitely be buying a 2027 early bird pass, partially because of the priority reservation privileges for the Ciutat sets. Hopefully the organization will take action to improve upon this year's failings. Because I thought the free water options and sound quality were an improvement over last year, so clearly they can actually implement positive changes.   I also hope all the douchebag chompers get in the sea, cause I was more bothered by them than in the past few years.   Highlights: The Cure, Ninajirachi, Knocked Loose, Current 93, Blood Orange.
    • Similar feelings to a few others on here. Not my personal favourite edition but a long way from giving up on it. Felt overcrowded at times and there are just too many people there that don't seem to like music that much! Hardly went to main stages which was the plan. Highlights Ralphie Choo, rusowsky, Gorillaz, Geese, Gelli Haha, The Sophs, PinkPantheress, Dijon. Accommodation booked for next year. Thanks for your company and comments over the past year.
