Martial is shit though, or at least has been playing poorly for an extended period of time now - that can be universally agreed by all can’t it?

Yes lazy unmotivated player, will be surprised if he gets another start for united. Especially as rashford is coming back and xavani ho support robaldo upfront.

Moyes building an excellent team, thought it was a good game and utd could of played until midnight and not score.

i think one thing ole seems to be good at is setting up for big matches (at least in the PL) - it has surprised me how often he's gotten the better of pep etc.

but then you watch the wolves game the other week and I just can't see a clear idea in their approach

but as I said before I'm not a hater, I think he's been good for utd all things considered. just remains to be seen if he can take them the step further to winning trophies. I honestly think if Conte was in charge you'd be expecting more from the squad... they are an immensely talented bunch. but then the issue with that is conte could easily distrupt the harmony that ole has worked so well to create in the team

Well the biggest gripe against ole is his champions league record, conte has an even worse record.

I think Ole will be almost there but will never quite make it: they lost to the 7th best team in La Liga for the Europa cup last year, that should have been a sacking!

I think they may win the FA cup if they play Ronaldo in it. I don't think they'll have enough in them to win the league or Champs league this year.

Oh I don't know, Maradonna is the greatest in my life time and he was partial to a bit of cheating.

skippy's goal tally is often held up as proof for how great he is, and he only has that high goal tally cos of the cheating, it wouldn't be as high without the cheating!

They said the same about Jose.

i know you always say that and to some extent i get where you are coming from but not every top coach is the same are they?

when jose went to utd he'd come crashing down at chelsea, and since then hasn't done anything remarkable. Conte literally just won the league in italy

He's a carbon copy of the short term jose, comes in and the potential of winning the league. Then leaves after 2 years, maybe a max of 3.

Then the next guy comes in and rips everything up, has a short term manager ever worked at united? I don't agree footballs changed and its all short term solutions.

Interesting point for a couple of reasons, firstly I think that utd were spoiled with fergy ... he was truly special and to achieve success like that over and over again, year after year was remarkable. He was the long term manager, but that kind of environment and ability to replenish so well is so difficult to recreate.

And that sort of follows on to the next thing I'm thinking, that apart from name, stadium, fans etc. how close are current Man Utd to Man Utd when fergy took over? I'm talking about the brand, the business, the owners, the competitions they play in. It's all unrecognisable. Pep/Klopp are currently the closest thing we've got at the big clubs that look anything like 'long term'... but even they are going to leave within the next couple of seasons.

As I said before if I was a utd fan I wouldn't be calling for Ole's head... but then I didn't want Lampard to leave in January.

Is it that unrecognisable? Football is football, the teams that spent the most were at the top of the league.

United are pretty much the same in the 80s as they are now, breaking transfer records and winning the odd cup here and there.

Fergie took over a much much better side than ole did to be honest. Players like Robson, mcgrath, Moran, Strachan, Whitefield, olsen, Bailey. Atkinson should of won the league in 86, 10 straight wins, then the best midfielder in Europe kept getting injured. I suppose its all fate, would fergie have taken over if big Ron won that title?

Something is not quite right though.

That's not the point though is it. You've said many times united have a shit manager, shit midfield, plus the squad being bang average.

For example the discussion about shaw and England.

Either the squad is unbelievably good with solskjaer being useless, or ole is doing something right. Can't have it both ways, for me it's a mixture of both.

Think yesterday showed city are as good as anyone to challenge for the title. They are just unstoppable on their day, felt like they had an extra man everywhere

The one thing that's quite nice is at this point Chelsea have had harder fixtures and the next 5 are really kind on paper. Saints/Norwich/Brentford/Newcastle/Burney. Whilst the other big teams are all playing each other at some point
