This new voting idea they are debating is ridiculous. Just move to an online system.

They should be able to vote quicker even when in the chamber ... it’s no wonder things take so long to get through !!

It’s surely not hard to develop a secure app that can do what they need it to do. Mogg said he doesn’t like online voting as people will vote on bills when watching tv, so won’t take it seriously. This coming from the same man that was lying on the front bench napping.

I'm not sure you've read it right. The politicians who get symptoms will have to self-isolate but all other politicians won't as they are social distancing.

Isnt that what the contact tracing system is all about though?

He said they're "leading by example" in terms of people going back to work. Now we can see why...they don't want people self isolating, they want things back to normal.

Good excuse to shorten debates and scrutiny I guess

Only 50 MPs can go into the chamber as well. What will the others do that can travel down, loiter around? Baffling move.

There's just no sense in it is there!

(upvote just for using 'loiter' it doesn't get said enough :) )

Now who decides what is the proportion of who goes in there? Does it have to be proportionate to the voted for majority by any chance?

When one leaves for a toilet break do they have to declare if it’s a number 1 or 2 they are going for ... so a reserve can be brought in

The Speaker of the House decides. He’s kept to the 50 MP limit due to concerns on the virus. I’m not sure on your 2nd question.

This is bigger than we think- in theory for "fairness" and "representation" that 50 should be split as the public voted. Which makes sense or makes no difference when remote parliament is working.

But now only those 50 are allowed to vote. If you split it "evenly" then votes would be pointless.

They've just killed any opposition, or made Parliamentary votes pointless....I wonder which it is....

It’s not quite like that. Only 50 MPs can go into the chamber for debates and PMQs. However all MPs can vote at the commons if they want to or are able too.

Good to know. but will that not just reduce debating times because of time needed for the queue, reduce opposition and stop those hugely at risk on the opposition side from voting anyway?

The Tory lot will then either be told they have to take the risk or replaced presumably? And they're already diehard loyalists after previous culls so probably will do what they're told.

The actions of the tories today are getting compared to the rise of the Nazi party. The US is trying to go back to pre civil rights movement. Why is the world trying to go back in time to the worst points of humanity.

There is every chance all of this will take us back to the actual worst times...war
