I could be wrong but they have spoken about the potential for boosters, haven’t they?

Yeah for now they're saying over 70s. Only a few weeks ago they said no vaccine passports so we know how things creep. Plus AZ haven't made their money yet, I imagine regular boosters is part of the gentleman's agreement part of us supporting them even if the whole population don't need them...

I'm terrified of it- the exact thing that happened to these people is what happened to my mum (low platelets which is a serious autoimmune diease, and brain clot, NOT blood clot like a DVT which is how its been widely reported to sound less serious). If I have a genetic predisposition it could be a problem for me, but I guess i have to take it and hope for the best.  But it doesn't seem acceptable to talk about worries around the vaccine - it's a way back to normality for most so i don't think this sort of thing is ever going to make a difference- some may have bad effects but IF it gets back to normal most will see it as acceptable

Nope - certainly not on here. The thought of people dying of Covid is repulsive but the thought of someone dying from a side effect of vaccine they didn't need to protect them from a virus that is very unlikely to do them serious harm just doesn't register.

My doctor had mentioned to me that the "at risk" groups may be called back for a booster in winter but also added that nothing is confirmed, that was a while back too.

I think it’s ok to talk about your worries with the vaccines as it’s always good to talk and some people with knowledge might be able to help you with those worries. I’m not saying you are doing this but it’s when worries evolve into something more sinister is when it’s not helpful.

I’m sure the German approach is highly regionalised. Merkel has been threatening to take full control due to the local leaders inaction recently.

Yes, we call it federalism, which is one reason for the rather slow roll-out – vaccines way has too many intermediate stations.

But also in parts of another region it has been stopped in Germany. I think it was Nordrhein-Westfalen after one death after vaccination there. But most other regions go on I think.

I understand your worry. If it hadn't been for my daughter, I would have had second thoughts about it for certain due to my own issues.

My friend actually has refused to have it. He has Addisons, which is an autoimmune disease, and his specialist told him to avoid taking it for now as the steroids he is on contain things that will help him anyway - I don't know the full scientific terms!

Not only spoken about it - they've proudly trumpeted the fact that they've signed a contract with CureVac specifically for the purpose of 3rd dose boosters / variant coverage - with 50m doses to (just about) cover the entire adult population.

It's not some grand conspiracy when they're keen to tell you about it.

I thought that was the case, thank you.

Isn't the statistical risk of having an issue from the vaccines side effects lower than the risk of having an issue from COVID.

Surely anyone with a basic grasps of maths just takes the vaccine given what we currently know ?

Be interesting to see what happens to the maths if we actually knew how many folk had been infected.

Already asked advice from relevant people. I'm taking a vaccine but may be picky about which. I might be called stupid, anti vaxx, anti science whatever I don't care. Autoimmune runs in the family so I'm making my own decisions - it ultimately doesn't matter as long as I get one as that's what society expects of me.

And then you have this in the Telegraph - no fucking clue comes to mind 🙂

Almost nine in 10 over-80s in England likely to have Covid antibodies

Some 86.0% of people aged 80 and over in private households in England were likely to have tested positive for Covid-19 antibodies in the week to March 14, the ONS said.

The estimate for 75 to 79-year-olds is 88.5%, for 70 to 74-year-olds it is 91.3% and for 65 to 69 year-olds it is 89.0%.

The figures do not include people in hospitals, care homes or other institutional settings.

It takes between two and three weeks after infection or vaccination for the human body to make enough antibodies to fight Covid-19.

I’d trust the ONS over a medic who’s openly trying to flog covid antibody tests on his Twitter.

I can’t remember if this was shared yesterday but this is great news for our posters in the States!

I read that wrong and thought it said "90% of Americans will live within 5 miles of a place to get shot"...I know they love their guns over there, but I thought it was a bit much! (then I read it again)...

Texas by any chance lol

Texas and Florida are doing better than the states that fully locked down. California have had one of the toughest lockdowns are currently in a right state.

Maybe lockdowns don't actually work!? There is currently zero evidence to show that they do.
