I confess. Laura K used to be my neighbour and I met her many times. Very lovely woman.

But her source is 100% Boris. I believe she has a phone call with him every Sunday night.

wasnt DC one of the sources too .... although it was much the same thing ...

Gig goers self reporting - who's going to actually self report a positive test in real life when they can go to their first, maybe only, event in 2 years?

But there's a PCR test requirement too- if that shows that festival goers could be dishonest it could derail any chances and make it vaccine proof only, which with timeframes makes 2021 festivals a problem with a majority younger audience

You have to show evidence no? The other pilot events used multiple ways of tracking. They managed a 95% return on tests following the event apparently through direct self reporting and also taking testing info from local authorities.

Yeah but those were requiring people to go to specific local centres. Download is the scaling up one where that isn't possible because people can come from anywhere, and it's self reporting like the Euros games, but with a PCR before and after as well. It leaves it open to leakage

I trust the metal fans though

I dont care if it's the Mail - I agree with this

Yup. We've all been more than patient but enough is enough. Hopefully a few instances of civil disobedience and massive houseparties will follow to let this cowardly government we aren't happy about this

"we aren't happy about this"

Let the rage erupt, don't hold back.

To be fair I feel that may have the opposite effect in the end...maybe even play into their hands

Ah yes so just left wing virtue signalling people are acceptable then...

Nope. But she is a fruitloop.

She is (purposefully) conflating so many issues in that article that it makes no logical sense.

To be expected from the Qanon crowd which she was really into.

University I work at had 80 students in a 6 bed student residences flat the other week.

I had to look shocked as they told me whilst being quietly impressed they'd got that many people into a rabbit hutch like that.

Probably the most useful thing that Edward Argar, UK health and social care minister, has said on Sky News is that in his announcement tonight, British prime minister Boris Johnson is expected to address whether the four-week delay we are expecting in unlocking might be extended further, and what the mechanism and timings for that would be, to try and give greater clarity to businesses.

Argar’s main argument has been that a four-week delay buys the UK government more time to vaccinate people, with the Delta variant being more transmissible. Notably he said there were about 2 million over-50s who hadn’t had a second dose yet. He suggested that a four-week delay would give time to address that, give second jabs to the over-40s, and allow some time for immunity to kick in. He assured presenter Kay Burley that “the supplies are there”.

Incidentally, the latest numbers on the government’s own coronavirus dashboard are that cases are up nearly 50% week-on-week, but hospitalisations are only up 15% week-on-week.

To be fair I think Andrew Neil deserves a bit more respect than that.

Just watched some of it. It is exactly the Fox News of the UK.

”we will be encouraging debate and putting both view points across”

*a few moments later*

“BLM Is a terrorist organisation”

”I agree”.

    • It would be piss-easy for a bot to manage, though.
    • I've heard that ticket sales for other events that use the same system have included the question 'are you still there?' on each window/browser you have with a place in the queue. If you don't confirm you are, it'll assume you're not and that place will drop.   I've no idea if Glasto/See will adopt this, but it would be challenging to keep on top of with many windows open.
    • People who're struggling are already priced out, so I don't think a bump in price will affect who attends. There'll still be a cross section, leaning young. I also think they'll do a soft breaking of the £400 ceiling, keeping the ticket price just below but having postage take it over. Next year the ticket itself will be over that threshold.

    • Not sure if this has been mentioned but new La Roux album out November - was meant to play in 2020 but hasn't found her way back onto a lineup. If any excuse just to hear this absolute banger on the fields next year!
