I'm bored and not done this for a few weeks, so here goes:

  • Billie Eilish subbed by Sigrid
  • Liam Gallagher subbed by Foals
  • Calvin Harris
  • The Strokes subbed by Biffy Clyro OR co-head of Biffy and BMTH
  • Travis Scott
  • Major Lazer co-head with Khalid
  • Tame Impala

Would be more than Happy with that!

IMHO super weak, with only The Strokes having a wow factor, but I dont think that real announcement will be less flat than this, so I guess it is a good prediction

Has anyone ever watched the 7 headliners at Sziget?

for me:

2014: 6
2015: 5
2016: 3

So 1 or 2 for my next one :D

I've been there every year for the past 12 years but I think I've never watched more the 3 of them.

2015: 5 (big mistake to stay at Martin Garrix for the fireworks only)

2016: 4 (big mistake to wait for Rihanna to show up)

2017: 2 (P!nk and Kasabian only)

2018: 5 (didn't stay at Dua Lipa & Kygo, meanwhile Kendrick Lamar was worth the wait despite the Rihanna experience)

2019: 2 and a half (I watched only the ending of The National + Florence & the Machine + Foo Fighters)

Nope 😀

2015 (stayed only 2 days): 1 (Ellie Goulding)
2016: 5 (Chemical Brothers, Rihanna, Muse, Sia and Hardwell)
2018: 4 (Kendrick, Gorillaz, Dua Lipa and Arctic Monkeys)

I can absolutely see it being something similar to this. I'd only attend three of them though, four at a push.

Agree that it needs a mega name (like Ed Sheeran or Foos) that other festivals have this year (Pearl Jam, Taylor Swift or The Killers perhaps).

because of peer pressure i also attended Calvin Harris and Martin Garrix end shows... but with a good mood it wasn't so bad! especially my first year with all the happy people and fireworks.

Also, one of the best decision of my sziget experience was to go see Buika (!!!) instead of Rihanna. Anyone was there? We were not a lot...

I was at Movits, the weren't too many people there either.

Also, what happened to RHCP, did some information rule them out?

Creamfields Festival announced Calvin Harris, Carl Cox and Nina Kraviz few days ago & Martin Garrix today. As far as I know the festival has the same owner as Sziget (James Barton is Creamfields founder) and @So Sad Simon said that we'll have Calvin Harris at Sziget too, so let's wait and see what happens. :) I'll keep my fingers crossed for RHCP.

Let's take a walk on memory lane

2014: 7 on 7 - went only through half of Calvin Harris, as it was too painful. Bonus points: lost both QOTSA and Placebo for bad time management;

2015: 3 on 7 - Robbie Williams, Florence and Alt J

2016: 5 on 7

2018:  5 on 7, but left Lana half in the performance because I found her dull

2019: 1 on 1 (eheh) - but I guess I'd have done 5 on 7 (Ed Sheeran and Florence, plus Martin Garrix and Posty for the lulz). Funny fact: I had the tickets for the Florence day, but I lost the flight in the morning from Warsaw where I was and had to take a detour to Paris in order to get to the island without having to sell a kidney and eventually I arrived at midnight or so, so I lost the whole day until David August

Bigger numbers than I thought! But I guess it's easier to watch a headliner at Sziget than.. Primavera or Glastonbury.

and it's nice, I would never pay to see a lot of the headliners I saw (like Korn, Robbie Williams...) but some of them were nice surprises.

    • mmm... i note there are several derogatory comments about this... not sure what it says about me, but i could spend a happy afternoon here...   Simple Minds, Deacon Blue and Texas are all great live bands.   hell, i'd even be drawn away from the bar to see James Blunt (if only for a bit of a nostalgia trip for his show on the Pyramid that i admit i hugely enjoyed).   still, with all that said - there's no way i'm going to the other end of the country for it...   🙂

    • Have a great festival to those that are going, I cant wait to get there tomorrow!
    • ah i get ya.. Yeah I hate festivals that have that barrier and front section. Roskilde is gonna be the same, which I'm not looking forward to navigating. Like you say, you end up missing other stuff having to get there dead early. Luckily there's not much we're arsed about on at Roskilde though so that wont be such an issue! hahaha
    • Not directly my expectation but my wishlist   - car seat headrest (it has been way too long these guys did Europe) - death cab for cutie - new constellations - interpol - bush - swimschool - suede - the haunted youth (should have been there this year) - flipturn   and oh yes Yumi Zouma can come any week, day, hour but this is a personal fetish with this band
