Have we had any info to suggest The 1975 are out and Fender is in? Otherwise, feels like this might just be a bit of the old  cope.

Not that I'm aware of.

It seems to have become a thing this year that people are trying to wish an act they don't like out of the headliner spots, despite all the indications that they're lined up and probably locked in.

Appreciate the sentiments of the song. But next to The Dying Light - pure Springsteen widescreen pastiche as it may be - it just hasn't grabbed me as a ballad offering.

Hopefully will on a few more listens.

This version from a pub in Newcastle almost 2 years ago is arguably better than the new album version

I think a reason Remember my Name (perhaps in comparison to the live in pub version) is not grabbing people is the production/ mix. The same can be said of the other new album tracks. Great songs definitely but I feel they have been overcooked. There is a lack of vulnerability that I think is key with his songwriting. I imagine all the songs will sound much better live.

There is also some odd choices such as having the guitar solo in Wild Long Lie so low in the mix. This is the sort of thing that happens when you have 2 band mates giving input with production/ mix as well as 3 producers. Everyone giving their opinions, mixing the colours to create brown.

On a separate note, it's also a shame that no one had the nerve to tell him he needed to write a chorus for Arm's Length. Adam Granduciel often neglects a chorus and relies on just a great verse to tell a story. I can't think of many examples when someone hires a hero of theirs to produce and it works out.

I do f**king love him though. And he should headline.

I think the production AG has brought to some of the songs has worked well - Arm's Length has grown on me massively with repeat listens, and People Watching is just euphoric now.

But yeah, concur. it doesn't quite feel like the mix is right on Remember My Name. Might work far better as a live cut.

I love him - would love to see him headline - shame it doesn;t look as it will happen, I am sure he would grab it  - seems to be 'another one that got away :-('

Looking forward to listening to the new album

Agree with this. It’s a nice song and the Brass band idea should work but it’s a bit overwrought. Might grow on me.

5 star review on the Guardian website for the new album. Manchester show on sale tomorrow too. Shame it appears he won’t be headlining this year.

Lots of good reviews about

In other news the song he just put out 'Little Bit Closer', is the best of the singles so far. Tried waiting until the album game out but couldn't resist

Absolutely superb. Just about to have a third listen.
